Good mornng, everyone! Does anyone get fluid retention? Sometimes my hands and feet get so swollen. I know the culprit is probably from being on Pred for such a long time. I'm not sure if Remicade causes this also. I guess my question is, what can I do for this? It's so uncomfortable! Sometimes my whole body even feels "puffy!" I feel like the goodyear blimp, lol! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've gained so much weight with the Pred. The fluid retetion makes me feel like I'm going to blow up! Julie

Hi Julie,
I have fluid retention too -- my fingers and ankles especially feel like they will burst. My doctor said he'd consider Lasix if it's not better by next appointment. Other than that, I'd love to hear suggestions too. Good luck!

Hi Julie,I have had fluid retention from other non cd related issues. My best advice to you & glowmoment would be to get on lasix(but make sure you also get RX for potassium to take w/lasix).Also,your sodium intake plays a big part in fluid retention.
I was on lasix along w/very low sodium diet(2 grams max per day)for several years. Now I rarely need to take lasix & control the fluid by diet alone.Best wishes to you both,I hope that you get some relief from this soon.

Hi,I all so have fluid retention as well,in fact it got so bad that I was in a wheel chair for a year because the edema was so bad that I could not walk.I was at the hospital every two to three days getting the fluid off of me.I am now on two different meds for this one is Lasix and Bumex and the two work well with each other and I still have some fluid but nothing like I use to.Since you have all ready talked to your GI about
the Lasix you may want to talk to him/she about
the Bumex as well.

Thanks to all of you for the advice. I think at my next GI appointment I will ask about
taking Lasix, which I presume is a water pill. If I get a prescript
ion, I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again! Julie
