Now in Imuran, some questions and an update on me :)

Well I went to my GI today and was told to take Imuran 75mg to start, then 150mg eventually after 4 weeks or so.

Also, blood work every week for 4 weeks, then every other 2 weeks, then once a month eventually.

I'm thankfully still tapering Pred, so if it all goes well i'm off of that by xmas.  If symptoms get worse they'll put me on something experimental (some anti-TNF blocker) as Remicade or Humira isn't covered on my plan and this will be free if it gets to that point.

I was wondering, iI I  started the Imuran today, if it's not for me, and I'm allergic how long will I know?

Hi thenay, I am on imuran 150 mg for over to years and no-side effects. It takes awhile for the Imuran to start working. I am also on Remicade same amount of time as the Imuran.

How long did the Imuran take to kick in a few weeks, months? Just wondering when i'll feel relief somewhat.

It took months for it start working for me. about 5 to be exact. I wish you the best.

Thanks Kristines :) My doc didn't advise when I should take it, lol, does it matter what time of the day you take it?
So far no crazy reactions, day one down! LOL :)

It depends on how it makes you feel.  I take it after eating lunch and I've never had a problem.  Many people take it before bed to avoid the nausea, but it's never been a problem for me.  I've been on it for 4 months, and it helps, but I still have symptoms.
