I just started Humira the end of September after Remicade losing efficacy after almost 3 years. Never had any problems with abnormal bruising while on Remicade.

Now I am covered in bruises. The slightest pressure on my skin is causing a bruise. I know I have to call the doc in the AM but am wondering if anyone else has had this problem on Humira. Had an ABI test today [test for peripheral artery disease] and they used blood pressure cuffs up and down my legs and even my toes. Every place there was a cuff, I have wide circular bruises. During the test the technician noted that I was throwing PVC's all over the place. Haven't had a problem with those in years.

Feeling like I am falling apart...again...this story is getting old.....

That is weird, Ides...I am not familiar with Humira but can do a little research for you.  Seems too coincidental that it wouldn't be related to the new drug.  What did they say about your PAD, though?

I got a softball-sized bruise on the top of my thigh from one of my Humira shots - I just started last week. I'm also a slow healer because of persistent anemia, but I'll keep an eye out for other bruises. Let us know what your doctor says!

Sarita, I have PAD in my lower left leg. It has not gotten any worse in the last two years. It is classified as moderate. Had to be retested because a doctor switch due to insurance changes. Since I have neuropathy in my feet she also tested my toes and my little toe is not getting much flow. It's a few weeks until I see the vascular surgeon to discuss the results.

Think I'll call and ask them to run my monthly blood work a week early and see if something identifying the problem can be detected. I would like just ONE week off from medical appointments......whine, whine, whine, whine....

Ides,

As a rare side effect, Humira can cause lowered platelet counts, resulting in easy bruising. Not to be alarmist, but I would let your doctor know about this right away, to make sure that the correct tests are ordered.

Hope this turns out to be something that's quick and easy to deal with!

While on the Humira I started bruising alot.  (This was not the case while on Enbrel) I got brusies from professional medium-touch massages, even.  My platelets were checked and still normal, so the doctor isn't concerned.  Now I am on Remicade instead and it seems to be about the same situation.  Wish you well!
