Colonoscopy

My first question is when all of you have had a colonoscopy does it throw your crohns for a loop. I was going to the bathroom for days after, like I was right after the meds.

Also, I just changed doctors and she said I didn't have to have a colonoscopy unless I had a problem. My last doctor did one every 3 years. What do other doctors do?

I usually have cramping and some D for a couple of days afterwards and then everything calms down again. As for how often, my doc only does them when I am having problems.

It depends on where your crohn's is located and how long you have had the disease. After 10 years, especially if you have colonic involvement, the standard is to have colonoscopies at a regular interval to screen for cancer.

I had one a few months back and didn't have any side-effects. Having another one on the 26th, i'll let you know! I'm dreading the prep already:(
