I am guessing that there are lots of you here that have healthy lungs. How long do you find it takes your lungs to feel better after a cold when you are or have to stop the immune suppresant meds?  Do you find it is more of a problem since taking immune suppresants? What do you smokers do when they just don't seem to clear up ? My worst of it that is bothering me is at night.  lol gail

Hi Gail, I hate to admit that I'm an old smoker, much to my shame, and I am trying to quit, but I have to say I've never had lung
or chest problems. Colds tend to stay in my head causing wonderful sinus problems, but I guess it's better than not being able to
breathe. My son is an asthmatic, and his wheezes always worsened at night. Have you tried a humidifier? Some times just breathing
in steam from a boiling kettle can help. I've done that many times when my son was young. Thinking of you LOL

Whenever she is on more than 3 mg (one pill) of Entocort, my daughter seems to have problems with colds/flus turning into bacterial throat infections. Clears right up with Zithromax. However, this happens only about once in five months.

Before she was diagnosed with Crohn's, she used to have back to back sinus infections. Within days or weeks after finishing a round of Augmentin she would get sick again.

Ever since she started treatment for Crohn's, the sinus infections have disappeared. She had pneumonia and bronchitis before her Crohn's was recognized (the signs were there, but the docs were clueless) but since treatment for Crohn's has not had either pneumonia or bronchitis. 

It seems the Entocort and prednisone, though immunosuppressive, did not cause as much systemic harm as the unchecked Crohn's inflammation did.

The only time I have problems with my lungs is when I have to take prednisone (I know I am the oppsite of most)I do have a mild case of ashma and a light case as my doctor tell's me of broncitis.I do have time (and it seems worse in the winter)that I feel like I can't breath as good.

Hi Gail,I use mucinex & a cold mist humidifier at night.Both seem to help.I hope that u feel better soon,take care.

Try putting a spoon full of Vick's Vapour rub into a container of boiling water and putting it in your bedroom, close the door so the vapours stay in the room, when you have a cold it works really well to open the airways and give you a good nights sleep. Can you get Vicks Stateside?

Hi Yes I have some vics and am using a pot of water on wood stove for moisture . Could try the humidifier I guess it does blow cold air though, but would put the moisture in the place. So discouraged because it has gone on so long . I am taking a puffer every day now ,I really don't like using them .Oh well just have to see how things go. lol gail
