I don't know if anyone has asked but my doctor wants me to start Humira to close 3 fistulas I have.

My question is will Humira close them?  He is not sure since this is new to him also.

Hi I have no expericence with Humira but did get results with the Remicade .Hopefully others on Hum. will be on shortly. I know what the Fistula's are like I didn't like them much. Be waiting to hear how you do with it . lol gail

mine are closing as we speak....even the recto-vaginal one. Take it. It is a lifesaver

I recently started humira because of my fistulas. dr. says it should help... we will see. no change yet =)

Michele,  how long did it take before they closed? 

bckley07,  how long have you been on it?  Maybe it takes a while.

I sure hope it helps that is the worst of my crohns is these dang fistulas.

i started feeling better after a month.They started closing then.
I can defiantely tell they are closing. I am feeling better and eating better. I am doing much better with Humira than I ever did with Remicade

I would be really interested to hear if Humira works. I've had fistulas for 5 years now (that's how my disease manifested itself). They make my life a living nightmare, what with pain and embarrassing leakages. I tried Remicade for about 18-24 months, but with no change. I was even on Thalidomide for a while, but that didn't help either and I was reluctant to stay on it, partly because you can't get it here in Switzerland and also because my husband and I would like to start a family soon, obviously something we can't do if I'm taking Thalidomide.

i started humira the end of Oct. im sure it takes a while to kick in and everyone is probably different.  i will update if there are any changes.  i have 2 dr. appt.s on tuesday. We will see. =)
