I no longer know what to think. Today my pain is getting worse and the weakness that I feel is worsening as well. I am having frequent bowel movements with watery/bloody stools. Since I have been up I have had 3 movements and I feel like I am living in my bathroom today. When I get through I feel as if I need to go again. I almost feel like I am preping for a scope.

Does IBS cause bloody diarrhea? I just wish I had some answers the last few weeks my depression has been getting worse due to the fact of not know what is going on with me. My family doesn't understand what I am going through they just know that I am very sick. It is very hard to go from being a strong healthy person to someone that is always tired and feels very weak. I try to do what I can but I get exhausted easily so that is much anymore. I was trying to start a business as a computer consultant but lately I haven't felt like working on that. I am so tired of feeling this way. This is not who I used to be.

I sorry but I needed to rant a little bit and get some of this off of my chest. I guess when the time is right for me to deal with it I will find out what is wrong with me. Thanks for listening.

I'm so sorry, IBS shouldn't cause bleeding.

It took me 7 years to get diagnosed, so frustrating! What finally turned things around was changing to a new GI in town. She saw the frustration and didn't give up solving the puzzle until we started getting answers.

By looking at it with fresh eyes and determination she did more for me in 6 months than the other GI did in 6 years.

What tests have you had and do you have a good GI?

I have had multiple Colonoscopies, 2 Endoscopies, numerous blood tests, and CT scans. I keep getting told that they are not finding anything. My family doctor thinks that I have Crohn's in the small intestine and that is can't be reached with the scopes and that it isn't showing up on the CT scans. When he puts me on prednisone my symptoms are some what relieved but I still have continuous diarrhea.

The gastro that I did have no longer wants to see me because she didn't like the fact that my family doctor put me on pred and a FACS did a colonoscopy and endoscopy after he was called in to my case after and ER visit that showed an elongated appendix and the radiologist thought that it my be appendicitis.

I am trying to get a new Gastro and hopefully I can get in to the center for digestive disorders at UCSF. I am going to try and get my doctor to refer me there when I see him Wednesday.

Sorry you feel so bad RFW. They did they same thing to me with all the neg. tests. The last one was a camera indoscope(spl). Thats the one that found it. Hope you get some answers soon..and some relief.

Hi I had IBS for years 27 and did not have bleeding so keep pushing and I hope they find something your B-12 might be down and have yiou had your bloood tested lately for anything that might be low. Like suggested maybe a cam can find the problem hang in there .lol gail

Hi RF, I'm sorry that you are also struggling with this. I feel similarly...it sucks. I used to be really vivacious and strong, and now I barely recognize myself. When is your next GI appointment?

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. Ask for the camera swallow test. You swallow a small capsule and it takes pictures that transmit to a computer that you wear on a belt. It takes thousands of pictures as it smakes through your digestive tract. They found an ulcer in my small intestine that was not visible with an endoscopy, colonoscopy, or barium SBT. Also, ask for the Serology 7 blood test that is sent to Prometheus labs. I believe the test detects antibodies that are specific to Crohn's. You can also get a blood test for Celiac disease, which can also cause severe GI upset. Good luck, and let us know how you are

Thank you all for your support and suggestions. Sarita right now I don't have a GI. The last one I had refuses to see me because my family doctor put me on pred. I am hoping to get refered to UCSF when I see my doctor on Wednesday.

so sorry you have been struggling to get a diagnosis. That is awful. I was lucky that my colonoscopy biopysies dignosed me follwed by a blood test from promethius. My Dr must have suspected CD when I came to him but he said my colon looked not too bad so he assumes I have more in the small bowel  since my sympotms point to that. I hope you can find a doctor that will treat you for CD or at least dignose your properly. I went over 10 years being sick and tired and not until my last Dr did I finally get a reason for feeling this way. Keep going to Dr's and don't give up. Bloody diahrea is not normal no matter what, even if it is not CD there is something going on there. good luck! Karen

IBS does not cause blood stools but IBD does. How many opinions have you had? Let me know. Thanks, Brittany

Refused to see you because your family doctor put you on pred? What kind of *beep!* is this? The man just doesn't want a new patient. Let him have the cajones to come out & say so instead of some lame excuse..

I do think my former GI's reasoning was just an excuse not to see me anymore. She originally diagnosed me with IBS in 2005 and I believe that she doesn't want to be shown that her original diagnosis was wrong and to have someone else be to one that uncovered it.

When this started I was in Iowa and I had seen a lot of different doctors I originally had c. difficile and after the first course of treatment I still had a lot of problems mostly located in my left lower abdomen. After about six months of going back and forth to doctors and have test after test and scope after scope they gave me a different treatment for c. difficile and after about a month I was feeling better and was able to return to work. I still had continual diarrhea and at times it was bloody but I pretty much ignored it and thought that maybe it would go away. These doctors also diagnosed me at that time with UC. So I figured that the diarrhea was because of that and I was just happy not to have the pain and was able to have somewhat a normal life.

In 2005 I had a flair up and my family doctor prescribed me pred and it only lasted for about a month and I was back to somewhat normal. He tried to get me in with a GI and I was never called for an appointment.

A year later I asked him about the continuous diarrhea and the reason why I couldn't digest vegetables. He asked if I ever saw the GI and I told him I hadn't and I asked for another referal.

This time I did see the GI and was scoped and told that I didn't have UC and that my problems were because of IBS. This last flair up has been really bad and has lasted for over 3 months with me in and out of the ER until my family doctor finally prescribe pred again, prior to getting the pred I had seen the same GI and she prescribed Donnatol and Metamucial. Neither of those worked and after a trip to the ER I had a follow up with my family doctor and that was when the pred was prescribed. When I followed up with the GI and told her about the pred and that I was feeling better is when she decided that she didn't want to see me anymore.

So right now I am currently without a GI and I am hoping that my family doctor can get me in at UCSF's Digestive Disorders Center.

Some other interesting notes are that I injured my right knee and after 2 surgeries and hasn't healed right. I have a lot of joint pain as well. I am not sure if they are related but from what I have read the joint pain could be an indicator of Crohn's as well.
