Capsule endoscopy question

I had a capsule endoscopy done on 12/04 and I have still not passed the capsule.  I have a little pain today and I am actually feeling a little constipated which is way out of the norm for me.  I usually go many times a day and now I go maybe twice a day and I have to strain a little.  Has anyone else had a hard time passing the capsule and is there any options to remove it besides surgery if I cannot pass it.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Rather than continuing to worry why not ask your doctor to order an abdominal xray today. The CE will show up in the xray if its still in there.

They call everyday to see if I have passed it and say that they will give it until tomarrow because they have seen on a few other occassions it taking a week

I never saw the capsule pass either time I had the test. The only way to tell 100% if it hasnot passed is by Xray. I hope that it has passed for you and is not stuck etc

I looked and looked and never saw mine, but it was gone. if you are worried, however, get an xray.

Had my capsule endoscopy done 5 weeks ago,

Still has not passed...

xray confirms it is still in me

Doctor says there are cases where it stays in for a whole year

rare, but it happens

See your Doc for an X-Ray

Wouldn't that be dangerous to have that in there that long. I go in the morning to see if it is still there but they don't seem as concerned as I am. I have a huge hernia so they think that maybe it's just getting hung up in the curves and kinks and will come out soon. I don't know but it's got me worried.

Never saw mine either . The doctor should check it out though, just to make sure its gone.

No I didnt have an x ray to determine if it was left in me or not. Fortunately I was in remission or at least as close as I had ever been to remission few things came up on my colonoscopy that year. So I had no pain prior or after the capsule. about a year later was when I began to flare so I figure it would have caused severe pain if it was stuck also When I flared I went to a walk in since my GI at the time didnt believe me so they did abd rads then I ended up going for a CT

You know what I really have a hard time understanding? WHY are so many places doing the camera endoscopy BUT NOT using the dissolvable pill first to see if it will pass?

I am assuming maybe it has something to do with if sometimes the CE itself passes and on one sees it why go to the expense of the dissolvable pill and then have the patient not see IT when and if it passes.

But I gotta tell you - with "my" situation (and 30 years of raising dogs) it wouldn't bother me one iota to catch and paw thru each stool until I found it or the dissolving time passed.

I know a couple in the forum have done the dissolvable pill first. Did you have any trouble finding it when it passed?

I had an XRAY yesterday and it shows nor foreign bodies were present, so it has passed and I can quit worrying about it now.

i dont know if mine ever passed either but had a colonsocpy and down the throat and they didnt run into it or didnt show up on a ct scan so im sure it passed
