I have crohns-colitis as well (CD affecting the colon), my GI tried me on Imuran but like all oral RX I wasn't to take it, I was unresponsive to it...talk to your doc about Imuran as an option..if in the future you have issues with proctitis (inflammation of the rectom) I strongly suggest cortifoam, it has always done wonders for me.
You should also be taking a good probiotic regardless of where your CD is...even when you're in remission continuing with probiotics is important.
Fibre supplements help me to in conjunction with other natural products that I take because I'm either allergic or non-responsive to oral meds so I take probiotics, fibre supplements, bee propolis, vitamins B12, A, C-calcium ascorbate and drink chamomile tea everyday...don't eat any processed foods, sugar (I use Stevia) or fast-foods, caffeine, or animal fats as these all can exacerbate IBD symptoms.
