Follow-up doctor's appointment

Hello,

I went in today to see a GI physician's assistant as a follow-up from my visit with my primary care physician. My primary care physician had run some tests and suspects Crohn's disease. When I went to physician's assistant he felt around my belly and asked where it hurt. I had pain when he pressed on the lower left side (my left) of my abdomen and also the lower right side. The most severe is the lower left. He kind of made some faces when he was feeling around. I will probably have a colonoscopy within the next six weeks. Is the colon on the lower left or what is in that area that would hurt? Also, I probably should have asked the doctor this, but I start having pain almost immediately after I eat, but doesn't it take time for the food to pass from the stomach into the intestines? I didn't realize until today that the colon and the large intestine are the same thing!

My pain started about a year ago.  My stomach was really sensitive and bloating frequently.  Most of the pain was on the left side.  I had a CT scan they first diagnosed me with situs inverses (organs flipped).  However, after going to a differenct doctor that was not the case at all.  Then I was diaganosed with prostratitus.  Nothing seemed to help.  I had blood in my urine, I was peeing frequently and a lot of BM's.  Anyways finally went through colonoscopy; nothing showed, did small bowel follow-thru nothing showed, did upper endoscopy and they found abnormalities in my villis and susptected celiac disease, however did a pillcam endoscope and it showed chrones in my small bowel.  It kept stumping doctors though why hurting on my left side the most.  Go back this wednesday to talk to doctor, good luck with yours.

Man I can't beleive how informative this site is.  Sometimes I think people on here knows more about the disease than the doctors do.
