Colonoscopy yesterday - frustrated

I had my colonoscopy yesterday. The prep this time (Fleet Phospho Soda) was better than the previous preps. Not nearly as much cramping or pain. The test itself was more painful. I was mostly awake during the test and was trying to watch the monitor. Couldn't really get a good look because they took my glasses. I was awake for the first one as well, but don't remember it hurting so badly. Of course, everything looks fine and healthy. My gastro took biopsies, but the results won't be back until next week. I get the feeling that he thinks it's all in my head, but he is scheduling me for a pill camera endoscopy after the first of the year to see if the problem is higher up in the small bowel. I think he is doing the tests to satisfy my primary care doctor who has been putting some pressure on him. I'll let you know what the biopsies show and how the pill cam goes.

Jen, seems to me like, for whatever reason, your GI is at least running necessary tests to try and fiind out what is wrong with you. Even if it's cuz he's getting pressure from your PCP, at least he's not blowing you off. Good luck on the biopsy results!

Ive only had one colonoscopy but man that FLeet Phoso Soda tasted so bad I could hardly keep it down. Anyone have any tips on how to disguise the taste?

Yup, easy, your pour only 1/3 of the phospho soda into a full glass of CLEAR cold pop and drink it as fast as you can, since you're suppose to get it in quickly anyways...doing this 3 times in a row will get a whole 45ml bottle of the phospho soda down and you'll hardly (if at all) notice a thing, the salty taste and oily consistancy...you can add ice too, and then you're suppose to follow with plenty of water too.

I think gingerale works WONDERFUL for fleet phospha soda in my experience. I hate that stuff too...I have a hard time getting it down. 3 oz. doesnt' seem like much but YUCK!!!!!

this year I asked for the gallon of dung so I wouldn't have to try and swallow the phospha - can't handle the salt no matter how fast i try to swallow, throat closes up and say no way your sending that down, yuck yuck yuck

Hi,
just wanted to tell you that all my scopes were fairly "normal" except for inflammation in the lowest part of the large bowel and sigmoid. Then I finally had the Pillcam test which diagnosed CD. So, just because your tests are ok, doesn't mean it is all (or AT ALL) in your head. Hang in there.

The gallon of Go-Lytely prep wears you all physically as well as mentally.  In the end I stood in the bathroom leaning against the wall.............. eyes

If your having pain during a scope, let the Dr. know, a little more Versed may be in order.
