I was wondering if any of you guys with CF have had babies, or have tried to have babies.  Is it possiblie?

My boyfriend who has CF and i are planning on trying to have babies in the future, and i was wondering if there was a chance of having biological kids.

Hi Sara,

I am sure at one point and time that your bf has been told since he has CF, he is most likely sterile.  This most likely can be discussed with the CF doctor and care team at the clinic for more direct answers. 

I do know a few males that have CF and they have told me they are sterile.

It may not be possible to have a natural conception - however if he is not totally sterile you may be able to think about artiicial removal and impregnation that way. BUT this is best discussed with your doctor. Before you do have children, I beg you, please get checked for the CF gene yourself. If you are a carrier then you two wiill have CF children. If you start having children with CF it is a long hard road to go down. Not that it would cause you to love them any the less. I personally will adopt. There are enough unwanted babies in this world. CF is no picnic. Please just think about it seriously before you proceed.
