Hi. Neefafeefa, if you think about
it and you have cf that effects the lungs then a Cfers lungs always has an infection going on. That's why our mucus is darker than a person who does not have cf. If you have siblings and even your parents if they dont have cf they all have clear to whitish mucus but when they get a cold it gets a little darker. We may not go to the hopital or go on antibiotics but we still have an infection that is low and is not bothering us. Only untill it gets worse in some way do we have to go on the heavy meds. Thats why it is so important to do the treatments and lung clearing exercises to keep the mucus from collecting and making the infection worse. The way my doctor described it to me when I was younger is that there is always a controlled small fire (infection) in the lungs only untill something comes along and adds to this fire does the fire go wild and gets worse and may need antibiotics. It's corny but it works.
Thats great that you haven't had a bad infection though. good for you. and keep it up.
