Hello all. I'm sure you've all seen my posts before so you probably figure that I think I know it all! (which I don't, I just know what works well for me!) On that note, I'm here to reassure you that I DON'T know it all - with a question / concern.
I've been made aware recently that there's another girl who moved here here to my small town and she has CF & B. Cepacia. I have CF with plenty of lung involvement (staph and a cold currently) but no B. Cepacia. I do not want to meet this girl in person and risk getting it. (my team and my parents believe the best way for cystics to talk is online - and I'm in total agreement!)......
But - I want to know - does anyone know what the risk of cross contamination would be if I were to use our communal swimming pool? I have no guarantee if she does or does not I cant get ahold of her contact info to ask directly - my CF team told me "its a water-based organism" - but didn't really give me a clear yes or no on it. Has anyone brought any similar concerns up with their teams? If so - what was their answers?
My current standpoint is - I don't want to risk it - BUT - I cant live my life in a bubble, and I really miss swimming (lifeguard for 2 years, then moved here, swam a little bit, but then the pool was shut for 8 months for renovations, and now its opened but I really dont want to risk getting bugs that I really dont need ;) LOL
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
