Yes, Maya....it can be done by blood test to test if you and your spouse is a carrier. If there is reason to believe (its in the family), they will almost be ready to test.

But, on the other hand....it takes two parents to have a CF child and its a.......1 in 4 chance that both parents could genetically have a CF child.

For instance. My daughter who is 20, does not have CF, but is a carrier just like myself. My twin sons do have CF. Both my husband and I are carriers but my daughter missed having it....Thank the Lord for this. CF is a horrible disease.

When my daughter was pregnant since her brothers have it, she was tested for carrier status and she has the same mutation my sons do, but, she does not suffer from the disease. My grandaughter was tested for CF after she was born and does not have it, but, is a carrier also.
