New Members - Post first post here, Part 3

Hello All, I have been looking for a Forum like this for a long time so thank you and I hope to learn and I'm sure I will ask alot of questions and chime in on things I have experienced, I have had major depression for 3 years officially but in reality I think it let to the breakup of my marriage many years ago and affects my relationships today.
The only outward sign are my anxiety. I take valum and Welbutrim and only have panic attacks usually related to loss of friendships or relationships. I have problems finding that special caring relationship I crave and usually sabotage them as they don't seem to last long and I try so hard that sometimes I just want to give up but then realize that is the genesis of my depression.

Hi Lots,

I think that you are worrying for nothing. You can easily put a stop to this if you feel it will effect your marraige. Just tell this person that you are feeling uncomfortable with what is going on and that you need to stop. Your husband could find out and get the wrong impression. Try to put this behind you and pick up on your relationship with your husband where you left off. I think when you take control of the situation, you will get your self confidence back. You can do this, you are stronger than you think.

Keep posting and let us know how things are going. I really think that you are worrying too much right now, because you are feeling guilty. But what you did could be considered normal if you were feeling a lacking in your home life. You are not a bad person. Just sound a little lonely. Focus on your life with your family and get that good feeling back.

thank you very much for the support..I have put a stop to that long back..but i just was worried...that i lost my mind without even knowing...only later i realized..I am trying hard to get over what had happened..and i am sure i will get over it..just need some help and support for that..cant tell anyone...all my friends find me trustworthy..and cant let anyone down..

First of all, welcome to the HealingWell depression forum. It is so nice to see you are going to join us. Everybody here is so kind and compassionate.

I didn't know that zoloft was one to cause weight gain, but I guess that everybody is different. And some will gain where others don't. I take effexor and haven't had any weight gain problem from it and I have heard that wellbutrin can actually cause weight loss. So those are a couple that you might want to check into.

Hello everyone!

I am a 26 year old female. Currently, I own a few boutiques through out my state and I love my job. I have great family and lots of wonderful friends. I am in a relationship with a wonderful man who I have been with for 3 months but I feel like I am getting detached from him because I have been feeling sad. I go in and out of these moods every couple of months but lately I have been feeling depressed more often. Not sure what's causing this but I am going to get to the bottom of it! I want to thank everyone in advance for listening to me and giving me any advice that you can give me.

Hello Everyone!

I found this site a week ago, after my visit to my doctor and being diagnosed with severe depression. I am 39 years old, married and have 2 children. The last couple of years have been really tough for me. I knew something was wrong, but didn't quite know what it was. Both my mother and my sister have depression, so it runs in the family, obviously, and it was something that I knew I could have, but I REALLY did not want, so I have been fighting it for a long time! The last year I have been sleeping all the time. All day long, not wanting to see anyone, or do anything. I had to quit my job (I'm a nurse), I've broken dates with friends, I've lost friends, I've lost so much, but don't really care either. But lately I've been really bothered by what my children are seeing of their mother. Their mother sleeps all the time. Their mother is in bed all the time. I try to get to some of their activities, but don't always make it. I need to get better for THEM! Of course for myself also.

While at the doctor's last week, she had me fill out that long list of questions that figures out how depressed you are (Beck Test). To my shock I scored a 37 which is severe. Anyway, she started me on Cymbalta 30mg for one week, then up to 60mg. After one week I am already noticing a difference. I am awake during the day which is a complete switch for me! I can't say I am eager to go and do a bunch of stuff yet, but baby steps! I also have an appointment with a psychiatrist coming up.

You should feel really good about seeing your doctor about your depression, and taking those first steps to move ahead.  Good for you, also, for making an appointment to see a psychiatrist.  I'm glad you're already seeing an improvement with your meds, and hope that your psych doc will be able to help you to work through any issues you're struggling with.  Welcome to our group.  I know you'll find it to be a supportive and helpful place.
