Sertraline... Zooloft and weight gain...???

Hello, my depressions with Sertraline (only 25 mg) got so much better....  but in the last 2 weeks i gained 5 pounds... without eating like crazy... i dietet very strict for a few days and still gained 1.5 pounds... all together i gained now 6 +... i have a really hard time my whole life to keep my weight in a normal range... i am not pathetic about my weight but i was already 230 lbs years ago.. now normally around 169 by 5.11 height.  Additionally i take in the evening 50 mg novo-trazodone and 7.5 mg ranzopiclone... PLEASE HELP!!!!!! any advise to change to another med... is it the sleeping pills.. any advise for a antidepressant which helps to sleep??? Cannot go onPrisitq (got really worse of that) or Celexa......

Hi Pawfect,

I understand that welbutrin is weight neutral. Often people lose weight from that. Talk to your doctor about that, and maybe he will switch you. I have weight issues myself, going off of effexor and onto pristiq to see if that helps. I was on a super high dose of effexor (375mg) which is suppose to be weight neutral too. Maybe it is my age. lol...

I hope that you find something that works for you. Talk to the doctor and see what they can do about it.

not sure. found i got the munchies on effexor, i hope that it works for you. it is a good anti-dep perse, albeit it pooped on me. has a good mild sedative value. just changed yesterday from pristiq to cymbalta. i am somewhat in the same boat pawfect!! keep tryin', wiith compassion. jamie

Thank you for all your answers, i was today at my doctors and he said i should try harder and gave me different kind of "better relaxer sleeping anti depressant" which i should take additionally in the evening...... But hey... even if you not depressed dieting is extreme hard... i love chocolate,... and pizza.. lol...

Im on 150mgs of Zoloft. I constantly have the munchies and have gained 20kgs- like 40 pounds. Its a tough call cos I hate my fat body, but the Zoloft really helps control my Panic. You are not alone in this.
