I was able to go early to the doctor for my brain issues.  After 2 days of testing everything from my attention to memory, the diagnosis was hard.  It would take to long to go into but long story short, I am of brillant intelligence but it is retarded by problems with the left brain and circuitry.  This information was so upsetting to me because I pretty much knew that I was "stupid" or how did the doctor say it.......an artistic cognitive brain that is not wired like other people.  Whatever that means, I think that it says that I will never be able to perform tasks like I used to and should come to terms with the knowledge that my inabilty to do what I used to may never be possible.  I have always feared that this would happen to me.  He also said that I should keep the oncologist appointment for systematic immune studies.  Being in the medical field that means that "there "probably" is no malignant tumors or problems with my brain but it is even more important that the reasons for the symptoms of related issues be looked into.  Am I afraid now?  No, why?

Hey just cause you are impaired doesnt mean you cant do what you want to do. you just may have to work harder to accomplish it. look at ray charles, he was blind but could play piano and sing. louis armstrong, and many more. i seen a movie where two autistic boys worked hard and was able to lead a good life. there are many stories where people with disablilites or other problems accomplish tasks. so get your head high and work hard.

hi faithfully. i too have been told something similar, furthermore after around 10 years of psychiatric care i was advised by the best consultant psychiatrist in the country that my severe borderline personality disorder is partially genetically predisposed. along with the MDD. we need to push the parts of the brain that are dulled/inactive and or impaired. yeah it is hard at times i know. hang in there. with compassion, jamie.

Hey everyone~

Finally got my computer fixed.  Found someone that wouldn't screw me by telling me that my computer could not be fixed without spending money I didnt have.  Fortunately, I found an honest compute guy that got me up and running for half the cost of others.

 

I'm doing ok but could be better.  Personal issues are still stressful.

 

At least I have my pc aain:)

Hi everyone~

Things  have changed since my last post.  I was contacted by my doctor who did the brain workup a couple weeks ago.  After reviewing my tests that had not been reviewed throughly that there are some invasive tests that need to be done starting with an MRI of the lobes of my brain.  He assures me that this is just to make sure there is nothing that was missed that is serious but he also called me personally and said to schedule it ASAP.  I didnt tell him that my neurologist's office had called me already to schedule the test before I had heard from him.  I will keep you guys up to date.  I turn 45 on Sunday so just one more reason to be depressed.

 

I am really trying to hold on to my FAITH but eveyday it gets tougher.

Hi Teresa,

45 is still quite young. I am 51 and consider myself young yet. These are our healing years. So that is good.

I am glad that they are being thorough with the tests. Hopefully you will get some answers soon. Good ones I hope.

Hi all.  Thanks for the birthday wishes:)  It was an ok day didnt do anything to exciting, just feel too tired to do anything.  My MRI cannot be done because of the VNS.  Once again this implant has deterred me getting well.  The doctor is testing for frontal lobe atrophy or tumors, Now what?  My doctor is trying to figure out another invasive way of looking into the "brain" to see what is going on.

 

I will let you guys know.

Are you ever going to get the vns removed? I was thinking that you were. I hope that everything turns out okay with your tests. Keep us posted.

I wish that it was that easy!!  Several months ago when my neuro doc retired, my new doc informed me that she could not doctor me for the VNS.  She referred me to my psych doc who doesn't take care of that type of treatment.  When all this was e going on, my VNS was turned off because of lead placement.  They had become unraveled from the vagus nerve and were a danger to my vocal cords.  After consulting the surgeon to have it removed, the insurance denied removal or repair.  This surgery costs approximately 5,000 dollars in which no insurance will cover this.  The VNS has laid dormant for almost 6 months because it cannot be removed because NO insurance will help with the fee.  It has been a nightmare wanting to get it removed but if I don't have the money to pay for it it has to stay there.

 

I guess for now if there is something going on with my brain it won't be found for some time.  I do see the hematologist next week.
