Recently I have been going through tests that have shown as being Pre-Diabetic, have low level Thyroid, my liver enzymes are raised, Vitamin B12 deficient.
I am waiting for my doctor to repeat these tests, but I feel really ill. I am depressed at receiving the results of these tests, and my husband who works away a lot does not realise how ill I feel, and how isolated I am.
I feel I am a real burden to him and all my family who live far away from me.
I feel so lonely and upset.
Sorry, I feel pathetic.

Hi Kirsi,

It is hard when we have to face these things alone.  But you will make it through.  You can take supplements for the vitamin deficiency.  Watch what you eat for the pre-diabetes.  Get exercise too.  Eat four to six small meals a day to keep it level.  Eat a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits.  Lean meats and not so much on the carbs.  But you do need some for energy.  Are they going to have you talk to a dietician?  I think that would be a good idea.  I use to see a diabetes counselor.  I never had to take medications for it though.  Just diet control. 

I don't know about your liver enzymes.  There could be a number of reasons why they are high.  Taking a lot of tylenol can do it, and so can drinking alcohol.  But there are other medications I think that can effect the liver enzymes too.  I would go over that with your doctor.

I really am feeling so low.
I was born without Intrinsic Factor which caused the B12 deficiencey and suffer from Multiple allergies, which have really affected my whole life.
I am in so much pain and feel so depressed that none of my family understand this, even though my brother was until recently was a Charge Nurse , trained in General medicine and Psychiatric nursing..
No one seems to care. They don't have the time to even talk to me.
My own son, 27 ears old, ignores me.
He has a new girlfriend ,who, I think sounds a lovely girl, but he just does not understand my problems.
I will never commit suicide though I have considered many times.

me t2 diabetic, 20 odd yrs, last7yrs also insulin dependant. diabetes mucks with your head 2. esp hyper's. alike being manic. i too have many issues, diabetic nuropathy, feet, lobroscal spine, anxiety, water works, lymphodaema. lipids and chollesterol, massive imsomnia, possible fibro, mdd, severe borderline personality disorder. so i get you. am here for you. depression sucks, something we all understand. keep posting for support. with healing compassion, jamie, male, 37.

Welcome to the HW Depression Forum, you will find yourself amongst friends here who are caring, thoughtful and helpful, so I am pleased you found us.

I am sorry you are going through all of this alone, the night I was diagnosed with breast cancer, when I got the call from the doctor, I was alone also as my sisters and parents lived about one and a half hours drive away from me and when I rang them, not one of my three sisters could get in their car and drive up to put their arms around me and comfort me, my son was away at the time and my daughter lives overseas and my husband was at work. But three of my good friends could rally around me and I was so thankful for them. But I virtually fought the breast cancer on my own with just my rock, my husband for support. The family all visited me in hospital but none could drive the distance to my house to see me post operative.

But anyway that is enough about me, do you have any friends that you can confide in or maybe neighbours? Have you tried to ring your brother for support and ask him about what you can expect? Maybe you should sit your son down and tell him the whole story or perhaps that could be a task for your husband to do.

I am sure you will cope with the diagnosis whichever way it goes, you are strong and you have all of us on here to support you through it. So please don't let yourself get too depressed over it because that won't solve anything. Hang in there and let us know how you go with the second set of test results.

I have been in so much pain recently that being on my own makes me feel worse. I live in England , but am originally from Scotland. My husband was born in Ireland, so we have no close family in England.
I live in a cul-de-sac, where everyone goes out to work, and many of the surrounding houses are rented.
My husband was in a road accident three weeks ago. He was driving round a corner and hit a cow which had strayed onto this narrow road. The car was a write off and my husband was severely shaken and in shock.
He is off again on Tuesday to a business meeting in Ireland, and will be travelling on that same route.
I am trying to think positively, but I find it difficult when people appear to not to care.It's not as if they can feel your pain or your depression.
My husband works very hard, and I gave up my teaching job to work with him at home when he was made redundant. He is an Advertising Consultant and has got involved with mentoring in the last few years. I was his proofchecker/PA, and also did supply teaching and tutored from home, but as I have become more ill I have had to give this up.
It's my husband's birthday tomorrow and he is away working.
Every day seems the same.

KIrsi,

Keep hanging on and know that we all care here.  Do you have a diagnosis for your pain?  Could it be fibromyalgia?  I suffer from that and what you say about it sounds so familiar. 

I hope that things get better for you.  I am sorry that you cant be with your husband on his birthday.  Just let him know that you care.

Keep posting my friend.  It keeps us going.
