I am so sorry that you didn't get the job.  I know that you had your heart set on it.  Are there other prospects for you to check out?  Keep looking, something will come up.  It might not be what you were hoping for, but it will happen.  You might have to take something that you don't really like until something better comes along.  Will you be able to draw unemployment off of the job that you have now?  That should keep you going for a while.  At least until you find something else.  Keep us posted on what is going on.

Karen as always thank you for being a helpful ear to my endless agony and failure.

I had an awful weekend. Not only did I have the failure of not getting that position, I completely ruined what was supposed to be a great night out to dinner.

Today is our anniversary, so we wanted to make a nice evening out last Friday for each other.

We headed over to a really nice restaurant in town, expensive and classy, and began our meal. I am not too sure, but I am pretty sure it was the shrimp appetizer, I ended up having an allergic reaction. So I ended up eating my lobster and filet in a oatmeal bath back at home. Nothing like extremely expensive take out.

Talking about one great week.

As for my mental health. I am in a bit of a better place now than I was Friday. I have continued to pursue more positions. I think this time I will be a bit more up front regarding the situation. If I feel that there is any hesitation I will call them out on it. Two out of two interviews where I was a HIGH candidate have went to a more experience female. Bunch of BS. How much experience is required for an admin/data entry job...

I will give it to my wife though, she has been very helpful through the last week. As busy as she is she has been very helpful ensuring that I don't completely lose it.

I am sorry that you had the allergic reaction.  That must have put a damper on the night.  I am glad that your wife has been there for you though.  It sounds like things are going well there.

As for the jobs, I am also sorry that you weren't picked, but I still feel that things are going to work out for you.  I don't know why, but I do. 

You are keeping a good attitude thoughout all of this, and that is what is most important.  You being happy.  We can always dwell on the bad things, but focussing on the good things is a challenge, but you are managing to do that which is very good.  Keep up the good work.

You will get through all of this.  I know that you will.

Quick Update:

Hi Karen I am in need of some advice.

I feel like quitting my job. I am pretty much done. I feel like I am wasting my time when I could be spending it finding something better.

Is this a smart move?

I only make 10 dollars an hour here and I get treated like crap. I feel that I am worth more. It is very unmotivating. I want to discuss this with my boss, I am scared to see how that turns out.

I also want to seek counseling. I need help. I feel worthless. I never used to feel like this. I used to be happy, and smile. I enjoyed things. I used to be active, run, play soccer, I do none of these things now. I feel tired all the time. Sluggish. I am sick of it.

Would giving up my small income be something that would be considered an intelligent move? I really don't have the faintest idea of what I am doing anymore.

I have not discussed this with my wife. She has been through to much of my crap as it is and I feel that she is better off without me at times. I feel like I am a burden to her success. She doesn't feel the things I feel, I feel like I am alone with this problem of mine and there is no one that can help me.

I need a change, quick, I think I am going to snap if I don't and truly do something regrettable.

I wouldn't quit my job just yet, but that doesn't mean you can't look for work elsewhere in the meantime.  I do think counseling is a good idea.  A counselor can help you with these decisions and support you.  So do that first before you quit your present job.  Besides it looks better to another employer if you are working at the time, they see you as reliable. 

I know that it doesn't seem like you are making much, but it is better than nothing.  You would really be putting your wife in a hard place if you quit completely. 

That is my opinion on this.  I may not be right, but I don't think that this is a good time for you to quit your job.
