Hi all,
I'm new here. I found this site for the chronic pain forum, but noticed you can post on all kinds of medical conditions.
I have a whole slew of medical problems. Scoliosis, spinal fusions, staph infections, degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, endometriosis, kerataconusl. I have had medical problems since I was 7, and over the years it's gotten worse. I have had problems with depression since high school, and I just turned 30. I have anxiety and panic disorder. I am not in therapy at the moment, I know I need to be, but I have so many medical issues going on right now, and my kids have some too, I'm always at the doctor. I just don't want to have yet another appointment. I do a lot of journaling though, and that really helps.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here.

Hi there,
Yes, Welcome to the HealingWell Depression forum. I am so glad that you have joined us and hope to hear more from you. You seem to have a lot to contend with. That in itself can be hard to deal with. I hope that you feel better soon. Keep posting, tell us more about
yourself if you would like to.
Know that we are all here for you.
Hugs, Karen

Hi there!
I'm new, myself, and have quite a few medical problems, too! I can totally relate to not wanting another doctor's appointment! It's got to be hard with having to take the kids to their own doctor's appointments, as well! I don't have kids, but I feel for you!
I came to these forums for support, myself. I do journal a bit, too.
Take care and come back, often! :)

I was diagnosed with depression when I was 17, right after high school. I went on paxil, didn't really notice much of a change, I liked to think there was, but it might have been wishful thinking on my part. I switched to celexa, that didn't do much either. I went off all med's for several years. I tried prozac and wellbutrin for awhile, but nothing.
I have a history of sexual abuse as a child, and when that came out 3 1/2 years ago to my sister and parents, it became increasingly difficult to deal with and that's when I went on effexor. It was a godsend at the time, made me feel better within days.
I have anxiety attacks, they seem to come on when I have a sensory overload.
With all my back problems, pain, and the fact that I'm disabled, it makes it that much harder for everyday activities.
Thank you for such a warm welcome.

What a load you're carrying. I hate going for appts too. But there are a lot of antidepressants to try yet, and your GP could even prescribe those, or any of your docs. Also the panic attacks, people on here seem to like the benzos. I took Klonopin for a long time, didn't get addicted, and it helped with tension and pain, so I took it at bedtime too.
I have a friend with Psoriasis, Psoriatic arthritis of the spine with 2 serious surgeries, and RA. She takes Cymbalta 120 mg. and has for a long time. She's happy as can be. Of course, she also has an Oxy patch and Percocet for pain. But she gads around, shopping driving, etc. and went swimming 5 days a wk at her neighbor friends all summer. I marvel at her.
Don't give up on yourself. There still may be help. It seems all of us on here have gone thru numerous meds that didn't work, or quit working, but persisted. Have hope
