Failed Abortion.

Hi, I recently had an Surgical abortion on the 14th of October, I was 5 weeks pregnant. The Doctor said it was successful everything was fine. Until I had a phone call from the clinic asking to have another blood test taken. So I did, and they said that my hormone levels were increasing not de-creasing and the Dr said I'm going to have to go in AGAIN for another surgical abortion (having to deal with it once is hard enough but twice is just horrible). I went back in straight away the Dr gave me an internal and external ultra-sound but he couldn't find ANY tissue or remains left? I am soo confused! He has referred me to a radioligist which I go in tomorrow to see if they can find anything. I am just so over everything and want it to be over with :(

This has been the most horrible experience ever. I chose to have the abortion because i dont feel ready mentally or physically. I can hardly support myself let alone a baby. I have a supportive partner of 3 years. He understands completely.

Has this happened to anyone else?

My parents would never speak to me again if they ever found out! And I haven't had the courage to tell my friends.
It's very draining not knowing what is going on. And will be very hard for me to have the surgery done again if needed.

Never heard of that, failed abortion...incomlete abortion perhaps, but your doc has done a very thorough job of checking for tissue remains etc. I would consider him the expert, and since you have had the 2 in/ex ulltrasounds would feel better knowing that there is nothing there. Wonder what radiology will turn up? Only other thing I can think of is that you immediately got pregnant again.
I had an abortion too, in the 70s, just was legalized, women's movement roaring ! My reason, I was on a bunch of anti-psychotics because my dingbat nurse practitioner/psych thought I was schizophrenic, that was REALLY back in the dark ages. The truth was that in addition, it was the worst possible time for me, and I had waited 5 years to be a mommy, no luck, and had gone back to school and was nearly finished.
Didn't feel bad at first, but within the next year it got to me. Well, the unfairness of it all, and that i couldn't undo it, and if I could, maybe my baby would be deformed or sick. But what if I never HAD another baby, I didn't get pregnant those long 5 years.....
Its not good or productive to ruminate about these things. Was sorry that anyone knew, it was such a woman's right then, unquestionable, but people did judge. I regret ever confiding in anyone I "knew".
Hope that will help a little. I think your doc sounds like he knows what he's doing, and will be able to treat you successfully.
Birth control is important. Condoms are simple, insist on it. They have about a billion kinds in the drugstore because they are widely used. Your guys pleasure is not going to be effected that much, and so what, you have to think of yourself.

After reading your post and now realising you get sick from birth control pills, I'm wondering if you have tried the
Depo Ralovera injection? (Deep IMI) It last's 12 weeks and has very minimal side effects if any for myself.
Generally you shouldn't use it for more than 5 years and I'm not even sure that a doctor would prescribe it at you age, but
It's just a thought... Hope to talk again soon.

ARGH they are making me go back in on thursday for the 3rd time!!! I have NO idea what is going on. I'm just so over everything :( I wish someone knew what I'm going through and I hope everythings going to be alright. It keeps getting worse

sorry you are going thru all of this. I am on Depo, because it helps with stopping my periods. Because one of the worse issues I have with my disease is chronic bleeding.

K-8,  as with the others, I am sorry for your pain.  I also want to say something you may not have heard yet.  I am proud of you.  I am very proud of you for taking responsibility for you and making a choice that works for your life.  I do not use the terms Pro-Life and Pro-Choice.  I use rather Pro-Life and Anti-Choice.  I am Pro-Life, for the life you want to lead, for those who want to have children, for those of us who don't. 

I too had an abortion because I was not ready for the responsibilities of motherhood. Years later I was told I was pregnant but there was no fetus.  It didn't develop but the few fertilized cells made my body think there was. Both circumstances were painful but remember the saying "this too shall pass." I add, "the lessons stay".  Though frustrating I'm sure,  let the doctors take care of you. Continue to take care of yourself and hold your head high.  You, your life and your happiness matter.
