I wouldn't call it a mental disorder; it might be a temporary illness caused by a chemical imbalance. I would call mental disorder something like Alzheimer's or insufficient blood supply to keep the brain functioning, but a chemical imbalance (which is what you have)? I see it as one of the genetic things that, as humans, we're all subject to as in the case of our being genetically inclined to have blue eyes or brown eyes, depending on the genes we inherit.
Psychiatrists know now that bipolar illness is caused by an inflammation and that aspirin reduces the symptoms.
Depression may be relieved by removing certain things from the diet that are irritants and cause depression and insomnia: drinking or eating anything with caffeine in it; drinking alcohol, or tea or eating too many fatty foods, such as butter or highly acidic foods like breads or ice cream or milk or cheese. You'd be surprised how much better you'll feel if you start watching your diet and continue to take the proper SSRIs (Seclective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) or as others suggest Pristiqu (I'm just not familiar with the way in which it works, but my understanding is that it is very, very good.)
There's absolutely no reason for you to think that you must stop the
meds to be "normal". There's no such thing as normal; it's really almost anybody's guess as to what "normal" is.
Hope you feel better quickly on your new meds for growth!
