I've had a tough time managing the housework where I stay tired so much. If you don't feel like your able to get it all done in a days time, you might try working on one room a day. Are you hoarding stuff? When you say the amount of stuff is swallowing you whole, it sounds that way. Best thing to do in that situation, is start boxing it up and give it to a 2nd hand shop or a friend that might be able to use it. You may not be able to get it done all in one day, but work on it a little at a time, you'll get there.
With your wife telling you to snap out of it, nagorc, it is possible to build your mind up to the point that you can go from severe depression to mild depression. First thing you have to do is really have the want to, the next thing you have to do is start trying to have positive thoughts about things instead of negative one's (and yes I know that is easier said than done), but it does help. Whatever is making you feel so down, see if there is anything you can do to change it. Anything at all, then do it. Try your best to avoid stressful situations. I just jumped out of the lack of will to live to not hardly being depressed at all (no medication, no therapy). It is possible. You might ask your wife if she could be just a tad bit more understanding too.
