Jamie, my nephrologist says over and over, "keep well-hydrated".
Drink water, water, water. It removes the toxins and calms the
systems. It helps control high glucose levels (though not completely, so you need to keep on your meds), but it helps you get sound sleep,
etc. It just does wonderful things for you.
If you can afford purified water, it's much better than drinking water
from the tap--much, much better.
Please don't use artificial sweeteners; they are so acidic and are actually detrimental to your systems. Don't use alcohol; it makes
depression worse; don't drink anything (or eat anything with caffeine in it--they make the illness worse.) Chocolate is included in the list.
The strongest benefits you're going to get (outside those of your meds)
are reducing the acidity of tissues and drinking either purified or distilled water to reduce symptoms. (Distilled water removes unused minterals from the body.)
I can't emphasize how much drinking purified water is for relieving the symptoms of depression. Your diet also has something to do with helping to alleviate depression; enjoy lots of green salads and vegetables and less beef, use more fish and lamb (more easily digested). I know you've heard this a thousand times, but it bears repeating anytime the symptoms of depression seem to deepen.
These are ways to help lift your systems' burdens.
Thinking about
you.
