Stopped taking Trazodone

Hi all,
I put a thread on a few days ago, saying about the side effects of Trazodone.
Well after taking it for 5 days, I was not really getting any better.
I was feeling sick every night & had hangover feeling all day, didnt really feel like I was with it.

I stopped taking them y-day & I feel so much better now I've stopped them.
I have an appointment with my doc on wed, so I will speak to her about what else to try.

I just thought I'd update you all :-)

Just a quik question, what time of day do you have your Trazadone?

at night, thats when i was told to take them to help with sleep

Yep, that's ok then. I was thinking with the sluggishness you might have been taking them during the day. Sorry to hear they aren't working out for you. I find Trazadone a really useful drug, but I don't get the hangover side effects. My neighbour is on them too, at 300mg and she feels very spaced out sometimes, but I've never had that problem (I'm only on 150mg though).

I hope your doc can help you find something that works for you.

I am glad that you are feeling better now that you stopped the trazadone. My husband takes it to sleep on and I think it helps him mentally too. But he only takes 50mg at night.

I sure do hope that you find what works for you. There are so many medications out there that something has to fit. Best wishes on feeling better and finding what works for you.

According to the doc I only have a couple more to try, what will they do with me then?? put me in a funny farm? lol x

Maybe you just haven't found the right combination. There are mood stabilizers that can be used with antidepressants, also anti anxiety meds. What have you tried so far? I tried about 7 different meds before I found what worked the best. Do you see a doc or a psychiatrist? I go to a psychiatrist and a psychologist. They can both prescribe, but the psychologist can't prescribe all of my meds. Not the controlled substances. I still have an issue with weight, but I am steadily losing. I have lost about 20 pouinds drinking lemon water and walking. Also really conscious of what I eat.

I hope that you find what is right for you. I want to see you feeling better. Keep posting when you can.

I think i have tried about 10 different antidepressants.
I am only in the care of my doctor, I used to see a psychiatrist (actually ive seen 4), but I didn't find it helped at all.

My problems stem from the past, but they only wanted to talk about whats happening now. So i gave up with them.

I might go back again in the future, but not right now.

Have you tried journaling or writing down where your problems stem from? It often helps to write it down. And feel free to discuss here within forum rules. We would like to help you to sort things out and be able to put it behind you. But first you have to deal with it. I am surprised that the counselors didn't want to go over your past with you. Maybe they feel it is time to deal with the now instead of the past. I don't know, but feel free to post about it here.
