Hello everyone...
I was supposed to start DBT Program back in May but I had to have an ileostomy so I couldn't go then. My Psych Dr. is insisting that I try this program. Anywaz, it was a kind of a distance for me to attend, & I didn't want to start something that I couldn't finish. Then a lot closer to my house is another DBT Program, which is run by the Hospital (where I was Inpatient last year Psych/Suicide Ward...(followed with 6-months Outpatient in a different
location. This closer DBT Program has like at least 4-month waiting list. My Psych Dr. was able to get me into their program & will be talking to them tomorrow to set it up.
I have not been able to do any physical activity. On top of that My Depression has been really bad. Isolating again in my room...Which worries me cuz prior to a year ago, I had been in my bedroom + bathroom for 2-and a half years. I don't want to go backwards to then. I have gained a lot of weight this year due to medications, shoulder surgery & ileostomy surgery. I keep telling my Psych Doctor that I'm going to at least walk half a block each day or several times a week. However, I just have not been able to get motivated or energy to do this.
So, Wednesday night my youngest daughter came with me to take my grandson (3-yrs) back to his mom (my daughter). She lives in a Apartment Complex, which happens to have a very nice gym. My youngest & I used the facilities & I went on the Treadmill for the first time in my life (as I have never gone on one before). I walked at a fast speed & even jogged a tiny bit. Then used a stepper type machine with your arms working out back & forth with the stepping. I was sweating so much, but it really felt good & made me kind of proud of myself. I hope I can continue to go at least 3x a week.
Anywaz, thanx for listening to me ramble on. Hugz & smiles to y'all.

That's great news Serenitee and you should be very proud of yourself. I certainly hope you decide to keep going and you keep regaining the self esteem that you finally deserve, keep it up and ill be cheering from the side lines for you :)
Kind Regards,
David.

Hi Serenitee,
I walk everyday. It isn't always a lot, but it still helps. I highly recommend it. Every little bit counts too. I am proud of you for going on the treadmill. It is a good workout. Even if you just do a little, it all helps. I am really proud of you!!!
Keep up the good work. There are little tricks that you can do. Such as parking far away in a parking lot so that you have to walk a little more to get to the store. Like I say, it all adds up. Start drinking as much water as you can to to keep you hydrated. Helps to lose weight if you are trying. I drink water with a lemon wedge in it. Gives me a little vitamin c that way and tastes better.
Hugs, Karen
