I am new(er) to the forum. I too, just got back from the hospital. And I am on Cymbalta. I have been for 4 yrs. I was in a very bad spot when I went in. They increased me to 90 mg. took 4 days, but seemed to work. I am home now, feeling a bit overwhelmed. I have 2 little ones who were VERY happy to see me. The dogs too! And of course the hubby. He has been a great mr. mom. He just has a hard time understanding my depression.

Not trying to hijack the thread, just adding my 2 cents.

You aren't hyjacking. We have two members now who just got out of the hospital. I am glad that it helped you. Good luck with the Cymbalta.

Sorry to be so long with my reply to your question...and HOPE you SEE this.

My husband's family came from St. Bruno and Lachine.

It's fun to know that there is a metro stop and a blvd. in Quebec that is our families name. I'd love to be in a photo there in front of the signs someday.

Here I am Joyce. I am in Ontario, in Ottawa. I don't think Lachine is too far away.

Hope everyone is having a nice day. Tonight I am taking my grandkids to the Santa
parade. It will be full of light and i know the three year old will be so excited.

Otherwise I am so tired. i did some xmas shopping yesterday and my legs and feet were so killing me when i got home. You should have seen me walking in the mall.... like a ninety year old. i wish they would have had power scooties to use but nope. I was bogged down with all my bags.

Tonight after the santa parade we will come home and decorate the tree. I bought a real one last night.

I got my Christmas shopping and wrapping done. Now time to start Christmas cards.

My background is English and Lithuanian... but I did go to a French boarding school and know a little more French than my husband.  tongue

Christmas shopping already, wow... and Christmas tree.  I'm impressed. Will the needles hold up until the big day?

Karen, Christmas cards too.  My, I must be a real bah humbug.  Stopped sending several centuries ago.

When my sons were 'little boys' Santa put up the tree Christmas eve.  My husband was a radio announcer and worked that evening, so you know WHO got to do the job.  Needless to say, the ritual changed the following year.

Hope you have a wonderful time with your grandson(? not sure) or granddaughter.  That age is such fun.

I am glad you got the tree up Mrs Clause. lol...

I use to always get a frazier fir tree. I loved them, they smelled like oranges. We don't have room for a tree anymore. We could make room but the dog would knock it down anyway. I remember one year, the swish of one of my dog's tails took out many ornaments. lol...

Suzane, just dawned on me that your tree might not be a 'fresh' one!

That brought back a memory of last year. 

John had just started chemotherapy the day after Thanksgiving... and we didn't have much enthusiasm for the upcoming Christmas season.

However, I cut a branch from an evergreen shrub...stuck it in a pot of sand....a few lights and a star on top.  It helped our mood so much that we called it our 'tree of hope'.... and kept it until Easter!

Yes, I'm still finding dried needles.

I have similar memories...when Katie was very little and hubby got laid off weekof Xmas, we went across the street and cut this pathetic 3 ft tree and gather boughs for a wreath and sprays for the table with candles...I don't think I ever had a christmas that was so special, she was quite young...she wouldn't be so thrilled at this age-lol!! Where's my Android? (no she is not getting one)

Hi everyone,

Hope it's okay if I post in this thread. I am so glad I found this forum. It helped me so much through my recent meltdown.

Today I am feeling good. Talked with my oldest son last night. Everything is back to normal. He helped me with some advice about my car. We also talked about his Christmas visit. He wanted a list from me! Awwww....how sweet. My youngest son texted me from his trip to Yosemite. He wanted to let me know he was "still alive" LOL! This is because I told him before he went that I would be worried about him.

I am spending today so far avoiding the mountain of laundry I should be doing. I hate laundry. I did run the dishwasher though. Wooohooo!

I just sorted all my dirty clothes. I have to go to the laundromat. It sucks, but there is usually somebody to talk to there. So that makes it better. Plus I can do errands while the clothes are drying. They take awhile. But I get it all done at once. That is another good thing. But going isn't the most fun thing in the world. I can relate though as you said you hate laundry. I got my dishes done this morning. I am my dishwasher. Oh well. They are done and laundry is sorted so I am happy about that.

I am going to have company this afternoon. A good friend is stopping over. Sometimes I get a little anxious when I am going to see people, but it usually always works out good. I get more anxious when I have to go somewhere. I am safe in the comfort of my own home. But going places makes me anxious. Until I get there, then I am okay. It is strange how that happens. Kind of like doing dishes. The thought of it is worse than actually doing them. I find once I get the dishwater going, I am good to go. The joys of being a homemaker. lol...

You sound good. I am happy that you are having a good day and that coming here helps you.

catching up on home duties as well. a mate popped in for awhile. his birthday on the 30th, hence i gave him his birthday card. he done some dishes for me as well. nice. have taken the rubbish - recycling out and i am going to put some clothes away. other stuff to do as well. luv, jamie

Karen...reading your post reminded me...

I've got to put clothes in the dryer.  Glad I have washer/dryer at home.  Would not like to go to laundromat, either.

Another semi nice day expected here in Pennsylvania.  Mild, but not as sunny as yesterday.  Then we're getting rain and colder weather.  I'll try to enjoy this while it lasts.

......and yes, another 'work' day.

Karen, I get very anxious at people coming over, even family...it really exhausts me being "hostess" and the scurrying around picking up before they come...but then I almost always gald they came

I tackled mount everst of dirty clothes yesterday, now a molehill but very spaced and groggy from meds, just slog thru until they go away.

Home is slightly more peaceful...I just refuse to let them get ME started, not get involved...let them argue like 4 years old AND looking for family counselling (nobody wants to take medicare)

Today is errands and appt making day, lots of calls to bureaucrats to straighten out house taxes mess (Ugh) wish me luck

thanks I'd rather go to the dentist than City Hall-LOL!! We will have toappeal our taxes since we are both disabled pat is over 62 and we have homesread exemption...they had a realestate tax hike and it amounts to $300/month-what!!! To live on a dirt road in Mississippi with lousy schools, corrupr politicians, highest dropout rate and illiteracy rate?? What a joke!

Off we go, girded for battle-lol
