Hosptial again

I mainly post in the Chronic Pain section but also a little here. I've already made this post there but would like to here also since this added to my already deepening depression

Saturday night I left my house buy groceries with my girlfriend (was only my best friend and roommate when I joined the site). As we were leaving my leg went out and I fell to the ground. The employee helping us take our food to the truck tried to help me up. I had an extreme amount of pain and told him not to move me at all. I was taken to the hospital by an ambulance and have been there ever since.

When I fell I fractured my elbow trying to catch myself, but had no other injury from it. The pain in my back came from one of the herniated discs (L4-L5) tearing even more as I was walking. I had an emergency discectomy and it seems to have helped as I still have control of my legs, bladder, and bowls. As of now it's just a waiting game to see if they believe I need any other surgery.

I am in a lot less pain then I have been in years but that is most likely due to the morphine pump they have given me control of (also why I may be making quite a few grammar or spelling errors so bare with me lol). I've never really had Christmas since I my early teens as my parents are gone and I have only my three sisters who live in the country (rest of my family live in Europe) so I'm not really upset about that. I just don't enjoy the fact that I may be here that long.

I would like to ask those who believe in prayer to please keep me in yours and those who do not keep me in your thoughts. Thanks for all the support you guys have given since I have been here.

Hi Sam.. I'm fairly new so I don't know you yet. But I feel awful about your unfortunate accident. I will be praying for you and a quick recovery. And remember to use that morphine drip. I sure do miss it! Lol.

I will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers Sam and I can empathize big time with what it is like to both be in the hospital for a long time (once spent right at a month and one year I spent over 2 months total) and also being in the hospital over Christmas as a few years ago I had my appendix removed on X-mas eve.

I can't tell you how much it does help. It's sort of a vent and me being the person I am; I do not vent on others very often. I try very hard to make everyone comfortable around me no matter how I feel.

I am glad to see you posting here and you are right,  we do understand how you feel. 

Please know coming here is a wonderful and courageous step. You are voicing your fears so you know what they are. You are also voicing your determination to set goals and do the best you can to reach them.
