Zoloft and Xanax... Very Tired

Hi everybody,

Just a quick question... I have been on Zoloft 50 mg. and .25 mg Xanax for about 9 weeks. I take the Zoloft in the morning and the Xanax every 6 hours. Around 1:00 pm every afternoon I get so sleepy that I just want to lay down. Dose this happen to anybody else, and will it go away?? Any advice would be great!!

hi michelle, you would think that both meds would be starting to settle now. maybe a time adjustment for the xanax is needed? i am not on either michelle, but maybe a chat with your pharmacist and or doctor is required. with healing compassion, jamie.

Tiredness is one of the common side effects of Zoloft.

I suggest talking with the prescribing doctor about this and ask about switching the dose time to the evenings, maybe about 5 hours or so (or how many hours it is between the time you take it and the sleepiness hits now) before bed.

I have an appt. on the 23rd and I will tell my dr. whats happening. Jim, you don't think that it is the Xanax doing it ?

My Xanax has a sticker on the bottle warning of drowziness or sleepiness, so I would have to assume that you're tired because of the Xanax. Do you have to take the Xanax every day? I only take mine when needed and I too am on the same dose. I don't find that it makes me anymore sleepy than I usually am around bed time...

I'm on Paxil 60mg for my OCD, so I'm not sure if the Zoloft and Xanax mixed together would cause extra sleepiness. Do you exercise and sleep regularly? The xanax could possibly be increasing any sleepiness you already had and you are just now noticing.

Hope you get it figured out... call you dr or nurse and just ask about switching the time... the 23rd is a long way away.
