Daily "Check in" thread...

I know it's gotta happen pretty soon, but I'm just not having good days. I'm pretty well stuck in the same place and getting very impatient wanting to feel better. I guess I'm not horribly mizerable like I once was so maybe i've made a little progress, but when you're still not feeling good it's hard to take note of those tiny improvements. I will keep trying new things as I think of them and keep practicing the old ones, and try to staty positive.

Thank you for posting. I am glad you are seeing some progress. I think sometimes it just happens so slowly that it is hard to notice. I am glad that you are open to trying new things. Have you ever meditated? It is so helpful.

I am sorry that you had a flashback today. Just remember, that is all it is. You have contol over the situation. Talk back to her if you need to. Yell at her if it helps. Eventually this is going to go away. Hang in there the best that you can. Keep in touch with the doctor who is helping you with this. Therapist, I mean... I am glad that you got your potato salad done. I bet it was good. Makes me want to make some myself... lol...

Hey everyone... so glad we are all together again. Reunited and it feels so good!

I have my usual counseling appointment today. I think I have been doing much better, but my counselor likes me a lot, so I think she keeps me coming as often cause she enjoys me. I'm very animated.... some call it dramatic :)

Added some blonde highlights to my hair about a month ago. Needs to be a little lighter in the summer and sometimes it helps to make a change for me! Like turning over a new leaf I suppose.

Gma J, you are always cooking up a storm! I did a roast last week, but haven't done anything else since then. Living alone means I ate that roast for a whole week and still froze some! I am thinking about chicken tomorrow... Need to go to grocery store. Blech. I don't like shopping here in town- they quit taking coupons and that is our only option for grocery stores.

Finished my thank you notes last night for a walk I did & received donations. Looked at all my coupons (they're just so pretty!) and gave Carter a bath. Oh yes, washed the dishes. Another tension release for me!

everyone! I have two doctor appointments this week, I also have eye problems, one is
a eye doctor appointment. The other is to get my monthly saline IV, so I can better tolerate my medicines(and because I have sjogren's).
I did get some cross stitching done yesterday, that's a big plus...

I really like this idea of a daily check in.  When I was in an IOP, that's how we started each day. I think it helps to put how you really are feeling into words.  Plus I want to be more active (and hopefully helpful) here on HealingWell, and not just post when I need help.

That said, I'm having a bit of a rough day.  If I'm not crying, then it's just below the surface and hard to hold back.  I've talked with my doctor and he told me how to adjust some medications in order to get through this time.  I have an appt with a doctor who does TMS on Friday morning.  But today being Tuesday, Friday feels so far away. 

I forced myself to drive to my parents' house so I wouldn't be alone and sleep all day.  So I guess that's one thing I can give myself credit for.

Dear Friends

Hubby made a big pot of beef veggie soup for dinner with fresh baked french bread, even tho it is 90 degrees out today-lol.

Our tomato plants are starting to pop small tomatoes and radishes and green onions are almost ready-one advantage of the Deep South. Cannot wait for Farmer's Markets with the fresh melons, sweet corn and tomatoes you eat like an apple. YUM!

Had a pretty good day, have been laughing today, real laughter...feels good. AAAHHHHH, is that a light I see at the end of this interminable tunnel? I think posting here is already helping. I have missed it.

Katie goes back to school tomorrow. My husband who has RA and is unable to take the drugs for it is hurting badly tonight. He sees rheumy on Thursday and we are hoping he will prescribe pain meds since he is unable to take meds to control the dam RA.

Otherwise, a good day and for that I am grateful.

This is sudden. I hope that the hospital stay helps you. Do admit yourself in, that way they can't make you stay any longer than you want to. This could be good for you. You will see how it goes. Can you carry your laptop if you have one?

Good Wednesday morning, everyone. A warm day expected. Had a good night's sleep, so no excuses today.

Last evening, at dusk, we saw a raccoon descending a 30 or 40 foot tree trunk head first! It looked like a small dog or cat upside down.... It didn't run away when I went out on the deck.... not aggressive....just went under my bird feeder to gather seeds. Is this normal? I thought they were only nocturnal animals and wondered about possible rabies!

Charles, I'm glad you have services to meet what the medical professional determines you need for awhile. Who would have ever thought an Aussie would get envious of US Health care! I can't get the drugs my pdoc needs to trial me on, there are no hospital services, even though I have full disability status, my pdoc has to prescribe my drugs off label and I have to pay full rate for my drugs. It totally sucks that you feel bad enough that those services are warranted, but I'm glad you have them when you do need them. I think I remember reading you are a Vet. If so, you've gone through enormous trauma for your country - let your country try to help you work through that trauma. War creates combat PTSD but it is something that many militaries around the world don't manage too well. Nothing is wrong or weak... many service people I know experience very similar things as you do. Hospitalisation sounds so different in your part of the world. I imagine your wife will be able to visit you and have the opportunity to ask doctors about anything that might help her to understand to how best help you. I'm thinking of you Charles - and I think you have done a brilliant job to get through the past few days. I know they wouldn't have been easy and they took strength. Well done to going back to the pdoc. It sounds like it has linked you into the support that might help you get a handle on god-darn awful combat PTSD. If you can find another Vet to talk to it might help - admittedly civilians like me can't fully understand what you guys go through - and I'm not about to pretend that I do. Good luck mate x

I spent the morning trying to work out my housing situation - and came home and slept for 4 hours. My adorable son is going through a lazier than usual stage, and I'm finding that a bit disappointing atm. Tomorrow I got to my pdoc and I'm going to suggest that we use my meds to whip me into a hypermania at the time I have to move so I can get through all I have to get through. I think it is likely she will understand where I am coming from; esp when I am fully aware of the risks and consequences.

Anyhoo, this is turned into a novel rather than a check in - sorry about that peeps! x
