Just wanted to post and say hi to the group.
I am a 53 yo f, have been struggling with depression on and off for a long long time but never admitted this to anyone, including my doctor. On Weds, I went in for my annual, and she asked me what was wrong. She said i looked pale, sad and depressed. I let it all out. I have been through 2 total knee replacements in the last year, current hip tendonitis, upper back pain, on top of dealing with the stress of my grown son who has made life quite hard. She started me on Lexapro, but the pharmacy couldn't fill it because it needs preauthorization from the insurance company. I have great insurance, but it said I need step therapy first....trying the cheaper antidepressants first. I contacted somebody in medication authorization and told her I have been on Cymbalta with severe side effects and Wellbutrin with no help at all from that. So, it is Sunday now and still no word. I am anxious to start on medication for depression, anxiety and to help with pain control. Not sure how long all this preauthorization takes, but they obviously don't appreciate the pain the patients are in emotionally or physically waiting with no word.
Anyway, glad I found a place that looks so supportive.
