Hi there, i have been taking lustral/zoloft for about 9years, and am weaning myself off it at the min i am down to 25mg daily, things are going ok but i have some anxiety allmost like a fixation on certain things. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this? Thanks

What made you decide to go off of it? I went off of effexor only to find out it was helping me. If you are getting obsessive thoughts, I would talk to the doctor about it. Also the anxiety, maybe the zoloft was helping with that. Do you know if it is an ssri or an ssni? One of them has anti anxiety medication in it. I take pristiq and it is an ssni. It has the anti anxiety medication in it. I am trying to cut back on the xanax. My doc wants me to try to wean off. She said that if my anxiety gets bad, she can up my pristiq. I hope that works. It is scarey going off of a medication.

Yes Zoloft is an SSRI and is for anxiety and also OCD. If the anxiety creeped in gradually after lowering the dosage to 25mg, then I think that might very well be the cause. I've taken myself off SSRIs before and it has not gone well. I did so late last year and I'm still trying to get back to where I was. It's always tough, and sometimes you want to convince yourself you don't need it.

I agree about going off SSRI meds like Zoloft. The OCDs always come back eventually. I went off Zoloft last year, and relied solely on Therapy. While it helped, I have come to a part of my childhood where I again need the help of an SSRI. My fervent hope is that once my "issues" are fully resolved I will not need Medications, but I have my doubts.

Some of us do have brain chemical problems and will always have to be on medications. Some of us experience situational depression and it helps us through. Perhaps that is what you are going through. I wish you the best...
