my boyfriend is being a jerk

I just heard from a friend today that I haven't talked to in almost 2 years.  She called me and appologized for how things ended and for not being a good friend.  I was really excited to hear from her because she was my best friend since 7th grade and I've really missed her.  She is like family to me.  The problem is that my boyfriend, Brett, wasn't being supportive and acted like he was mad that I spent time today talking to her on the phone and told him I'd call him back later when he called me.  He called again an hour and later and I was still on the phone with her and he complained that he had been waiting an hour for me to call him.  It's not like he was here and I was ignoring him or anything.  He is working and is on the other side of the country right now.   He didn't ask how it was going or what we've been talking about.  We had a lot of catching up (and crying) to do and I can't understand why he wasn't happy for me and why he wouldn't just give me some space.  I've told him before how much her friendship meant to me and how she was the only friend I had when my dad had cancer and she would just sit there and listen to me cry for hours sometimes.  I've never had another friend like that.  He's never even met this friend and he told me that she seems flakey and I shouldn't give her another chance.  I think he just doesn't want me to have any friends.  I don't know how to tell him he really hurt my feelings.  Whenever I'm upset about something he just tells me to "cheer up" and never actually wants to talk about anything.  I should be in a really good mood right now but he ruined it for me and now I'm just sitting here crying.

If your boyfriend didnt ask who you were talking to, then it shows he didnt care. Im no good at advice, but if i was you I would sit down and have a talk with him, and explain why that phone call was more important than you showing him attention when he wants it.
