My wife is dealing with depression. She blames me for it. She's been to the doctor for it and was prescribed meds but she doesn't want to take them. She says that they don't do anything for her. I tell her all the time that I love her and she's the most beautiful woman in the world but she continues to put herself down and say negative things about me. She says that I've changed after my grandfather passed in 01 but I don't see it. I'm at the point that I'm leaning towards getting my boys and leaving. For the simple fact that I'm afraid if I leave she would hurt them. I love my wife dearly I wanna make it work. Bit I'm on my last leg.

You have to get her to try the medications. They take six to eight weeks to reach full potential. If they aren't doing anything for her, that is why. She is also not showing signs of side effects which is good. Just get her to take her medication and go to counseling.

You can't change somebody. They have to want to change. I am sorry for your situation.

My advice is have her go for psychotherapy. I was depressed
but learned to turn my life around by learning how to think positive. It takes several weeks for meds to have a positive effect.

Without taking the medication and without therapy there will not be much of a change it how your wife will view things.

The medication is key to starting the changes. If you can get here to a lecture or workshop in the area or a support group on depression, she could meet other people with the same issues. This may help her see that change can happen for the better.
