Spending too much time in my own head

It seems that the most successful here take long walks, and/or exercise. How about meditation? Free meditation stuff available on the web. Not as hard as it sounds once you learn about it, and really works. Can be done anywhere.
Introspection is important to discover ourselves, make adjustments and move along. Continual rumination is self-defeating. Its like constantly second guessing yourself. Being your own worst enemy. Have to be your own best friend sometimes.
Others will chime in here later, but hope this is a start.
Good luck. You sound very positive about helping yourself. Music in the background also helps set a more pleasant environment. Even just the radio.

How do you locate a movie on the internet? Can you get sporting events too?

Like the idea of the ear buds. Great with music too.

There are several means of finding movies on the Internet.  The easiest way I've done it is through a subscription to Netflix, which runs about 15.00 per month.  As well as getting them to send you movies in the mail, it also opens up hundreds and hundreds of movies that you can watch any time, and you don't pay for individual movies - just the access to movies for your monthly fee.  So I can scan through movies, pick one out, start watching it, decide it isn't one I want to watch, go back to the list, pick another, etc.  I might go through a dozen movies before I find one that settles in.  You can't do that with all the movies, especially the newer releases, but it is still a pretty large list, and what I'm usually looking for is not something new but something effective.

Some sites charge per movie, so you can't go through a bunch without paying for them individually.  There are also other sites that have free movie and TV show viewing.  Most want you to register though, and then you get slammed with all the requests to upgrade to a premium account, which can be annoying. 

I'm pretty sure you can get sporting events as well.  Some may cost, some may not.  Some may want you to register, etc. 

I actually use music to work by - it's the movies that get my mind's undivided attention.  My laptop also has a DVD player, so another option for me is just to throw in a disk. 

Hi I struggle with this occasionally as well. I think a huge step is definitely admitting that you do, and then coming to the realization that its not a bad thing. Everyone does this.

What happens to me when I do it, is I get so alone... and I feel like I'm always going to feel like this - and it makes me scared.

I find (and know) - that human interaction is the best medicine. I spend a lot of time in my room - whether it be with video games or movies or reading online... and occasionally I snap back into this 'mode'. But when I finally take a deep breath and come to the conclusion that there is so much to accomplish in life - and so much to be pleased and happy about, I come back to the 'now'.

I woke up this morning with terrible thoughts, and it put me immediately in a funk. Surround yourself with pictures of your family, or places you have been that you enjoyed, or quotes that give you eternal strength.

Sorry for rambling... I guess I'm kind of rambling because this message board and this message I'm writing is for you guys... but even more so for myself.

Just act like you were when you were a kid... realize you have endless energy because the human body and mind is so radical - eat and stay fit -- stay busy and rid yourself of these terrible thoughts. ... cause although I dont know you, we are all in this together. & it's good to know others get down sometimes too. I find that writing helps clear my head. I found a site called writeforten.com What you do is write whatever comes to mind. You have a limit of ten minutes to do it in. I try and ignore all typos and just babble on about whatever is in my head. Usually doing this first thing in the morning helps to clear me out. Also, as a writer I find a lot of good ideas this way. By freeing myself from perfection and just letting the crap out I feel much clearer about what I really want to think about.

I understand how you feel though. My depression really clogs my brain too. Other than writing I find listening to music helps. I can focus my mind on the lyrics rather than thinking.
