Well CAF, that sucks out loud.
I think it's important to remember that you are the same person who woke up in a good mood this morning. Nothing about you has changed, you're still the strong, happy woman you were 8 hours ago, you just had your hopes squashed.
Here's the problem with friends and acquaintances: most of 'em haven't got a clue what to do when the poop hits the fan. There's a litany of empty platitudes, like "Oh you poor dear, everything will be fine", and my personal favorite "I'm sure this will fix itself". Then your friends get freaked out and scared when they realize you have REAL ISSUES. And they hide. You didn't drive them away, they just couldn't handle how real things were getting. In other words, don't blame yourself for their deficiencies.
You do have a way out, it's just gonna take a bit longer than you thought. Your job is to keep treading water until the lifeboat shows up. I can't tell you when that's gonna be, but at some point hubby will get a job, the kids will move out, you'll win the lottery, or you'll find a lamp with a genie in it. So cry, punch pillows, luxuriate in the bath, write in your diary; do what ever you need to do to get back on your feet so you can start treading water again tomorrow.
And tell your husband to get a paper route and take you out with the proceeds.
I'm sorry about your bad news CAF. I guess you gotta be tough for a while longer.

Totally relate to what you said to CAF. Especially about
friends. They just don't get it. Your post helped me a lot too! Thanks.
