Bit of a worrying night with Rhory :(

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd do a bit of an update......feeling every exhausted after today.

Rhory's been quite poorly all day and getting through 17 dirty nappies and not feeding, so we had to call NHS direct an hour ago who got an out of hours doctor out to check over him (it was 11.30pm when they came). Poor little sausage just wanted to sleep when the lady doctor checked him over. He was really good though :) Turns out he's possibly got a viral infection and slightly dehydrated (we've been giving him cool boiled water to keep the little veggiemite going) and to keep an eye on him. He's asleep now, all snuggled up in his cot, snoring.

Probably won't sleep tonight but I'm sure good old coffee (my fiance hates coffee, so probably cuppa tea for him lol) will see me and my fiance through haha.

Basically, anyway it worried us a lot and we feel like poop now and very tired. Hopefully today was the worst of it.

Hope everyone is well. I'll keep you all posted on him. I phoned my dad after and my fiance's dad to let them know of everything. My dad told me to give him a big kiss from him :) hehe.

Hi Annie,

I hope Rhory feels better soon. Do you think that the teething could be a part of it? I hope he doesn't have a viral infection. But I know you will make sure he feels better soon. You are such a good mommy.

I will keep Rhory in my prayers tonight. You take care and get some rest...

Hi Annie,

Thanks for the update. I'm sorry to hear Rhory's got an infection. I'm glad he's okay and resting now.
Hope you can get some rest too in between. Keep us updated on how he's doing.

He seems a little better today, the pooey nappies are still going but he had 4oz out of 8oz. Better than the 1-3oz every 2-3 hours that he was having yesterday.

I was wondering if it was a bit of both, teething and infection. There's been lots of illnesses going about recently in our area.

He's currently watching Tree Fu Tom and in a snuggly big baby grow, giggling away. It's freezing and foggy today. We're knackered from not not sleeping well but I'm sure we'll sleep tonight :)

Diarrhea can come with teething. My poor baby girl had that problem. She would get such bad rashes because of it. I would let her run around naked in the bath tub to let her little bottom air out.

I hope Rhory is better today. Know how tough it is when your baby is sick.

I had seen his poo getting runnier with teething but what we've been seeing recently and the doctor saw last night looks more like infection. It smelt and looked evil. It's looking better today but still not feeding well and just threw up his second feed :'( but he's squealing away so I'm not too worried.

I don't like it when he's poorly though. It's horrible. I can see why parents worry so much.

Haha yeah we usually let his bottom have some fresh air but the 17 dirty nappies he had yesterday, we didn't even dare take the nappies off ;)

The doctor actually asked if anyone had been ill recently and I forgot I was poorly last week with the same thing, come to think of it now. I feel so bad.

Hi Annie,

I hope Rhory's doing fine now. Don't feel bad, nobody can control illnesses, and everybody hates it. People feel poopey when they get sick. Out of the topic again, anywho, just don't blame yourself. Babies get sick more easily and it's just another cycle of life but if you ask me, Rhory's gonna be fine. He's as strong as a steel, I don't think he would break that easy. (:

I hope Rhory's doing better, best wishes for the three of you!!

I think he's feeling a little better now. He's still not feeding too great but it's a little better than yesterday :) He certainly is strong as steel.

I felt a little depressed today. A neighbour was getting married and me and my fiance can't afford a wedding. We've been together for two years, known each other five years and engaged on the 26th of this month, two years ago and not been able to save up due to low income. I think it made me feel jealous and upset but I've always dreamed of getting married in a stately home venue with a white, fishtail dress, tiara and have my children as page boy/ flower girl but not being able to save up or even plan always gets us down. My fiance is pretty much desperate to have us married but where can you get the money from when you live off £380-£400 per month (about $600 per month) and all of it goes on bills, bus fair and food?

Sorry for ranting. I sound like a stroppy person now, reading back on it :'( Just having one of those low days. Booo!!!!

You don't have to have a large wedding for it to be special. You can always get married now, and have a dream wedding down the road when your finances are better. I was married twice. (Due to my first husband dying of cancer). Neither was a big wedding, but it still was a very special day.

So like I say, you can always have a big wedding later, maybe on an anniversary. I know it is hard when you can't afford the things you want. But that is when you need to remember what you have. Appreciate the little things...

I wouldn't know how to plan it though. I'm a bit of a big scale person when it comes to ideas haha. Can I still have my big, white dress? :D I usually do appreciate little things, especially one little man but our wedding was one thing we wanted to save up and make it special and big but you're right. We can have two weddings, one little and the main one......like maybe a hand fasting.

What were your weddings like? Can you give me some groovy ideas?

You take care too hun. I shall pass on that kiss to Rhory. He's feeling a little better today. Thank goodness.

They were so small. But at the first one, my friend's daughter gave me a dress to wear. It was her prom dress, but it looked like a wedding dress and was a size four, believe it or not. It was beautiful and it made me cry. I got married at that friend's house. We only had two people standing up for us. And they had a hang man's noose and a shot gun so my husband (at that time) couldn't back out. It was fun. My uncle was a bishop and married us.

My second wedding, I got married in blue jeans and a sweater. I had some beautiful jewelry though. My sister in law gave me a moonstone bracelet and earrings. I wore them. It was nice. My cousin (son of the uncle bishop) married us at their home. He was a preacher of some sort. But it was nice. These were all relatives that I didn't know really well because it was on my father's side of the family and I never really knew him. He wasn't in my life. I met him a couple of times, he has since passed away. So it was strange in ways but very cool.

So my weddings were small but significant. I was with family that I needed to get to know. I keep to myself, but have fond memories of those times. I was always a loner I guess. But the time I spend with people is really important to me. If that makes any sense.

It kind of feels good to be married. It is really more than just a piece of paper, it is a partnership. I lived with my first husband for 13 years before we got married. And my second husband I was with seven before we got married. So in ways there isn't a rush, but having a baby I think it would be a secure feeling for all of you. But follow your heart. Do what feels right to you. It is a serious commitment. At least I think it is.

I hope you have a really good night. Love that baby... It goes by fast. Create memories.

My internet crashed and all I was able to do was post one post to you and poof! it all goes out. Good thing it's working now or I'll be desperate on thinking what did you post and all the other good people in this forum.

Good to know that little Rhory is feeling better today, it's really nice to hear that.

Karen's certainly right, although I'm so sorry for your lost Karen :-(

But Karen's still right, expensive weddings don't mean anything if their not meaningful. Maybe you could get married on the place where both of you first met ? (:

My brother first met my sissy in law at a chicken rice shop infront of their universities. It's a funny story actually.

Like my brother, he got married on the same age as my parents got married and also in the very same hotel. It's a coincidence, none of us planned it but it's very special and one day, I want to get married at the same hotel, and on the same age. History repeated ;-)

Okay, back to your sweet romantic wedding. You could do it in beaches, not the resorts and all those, but a real beach wedding!! You could always decorate a little on the trees, set the tables up and all but still in budget. Be careful not to go over board (more then your budget) cause that's what my mom did and now we're at this 'lack of money' state... Oh well, better get to work.

You can do DIY decorations if you're interested in a beach party, go check out pinterest! I love that site, gives me a whole bunch of ideas. You could always find a way to save money but yet have a great wedding! Anyway, you could also negotiate a bit with the dress and all, my brother got a free bow-tie!!
