I have been suffering with burning mouth syndrome for almost 4 years. I was diagnosised with multiple sclerosis in 2010 and am on Rebif interferon. Burning mouth syndrome has taken over my life , it is all I can think of. I cannot eat anything anymore without having the severe burning and reflux. I have been to many doctors and know one has any answers. I have tried many different drugs and nothing helps. I know many people suffer from this illness without answers. hope to hear from other suffers out there.

Hi Bobbieoma,

Welcome to the depression forum. I read one of your posts on another forum and you said that you thought maybe denture creme was doing it? Have you ever tried not using it? I don't and my mouth doesn't burn. This could be your whole problem. Give it a try for a day or two or change your creme. See if that helps. I hope that is all that it is.

Let us know how you are doing.

Hi and welcome to a great place!! Wouldn't that be wonderful if it was as simple as cream?? I hope so-I am lucky never had any GI problems, can eat anything. But keep posting.

ours used to crow at 4:22 every am til hubby twisted his neck-LOL the only animal I ever wanted to see dead.

Hi Karen, thanks for your help, I had dental implants done 4 years ago, it seemed that is when the burning mouth started , but the oral surgeon who did the implants tells me thats not what it is from. I really have to watch the stress and what I eat , it helps a little. thanks again....Barbara

I don't know why I was assuming you wore dentures. My mistake. But if the burning started when you got the implants, it would be fair to assume that has something to do with it. Maybe it is just something that goes along with having implants. I hope that you can find the cause of it and also some relief. Yes, keep stress levels down. Watching what you eat is good too.

Are you still suffering with it? This is the worst pain I've ever experienced. I posted on the chronic pain thread also...

I would try a specialist the works with nerves; if you have not received any kind of answers from other doctors yet.

Hi, I am also experiencing burning mouth, throat and redness in throat. Mine started after my doctor replaced my dental amalgams with white composite filling. One of my tooth is stained with amalgam. I 've went to doctors who just simply looked at my throat and said there's nothing wrong. I am suffering and need answers. I can also feel the burning under my feet.

Burning pain usually indicates a nerve issue. A neurologist may be a good next step. Good luck.

Do you think maybe you could be allergic to the new fillings? Do you know for sure what they are made of? I would check into it. Or like AV said, it could be a nerve issue. I hope that you get it figured out soon.
