Lexapro does work! Give it a chance.

I wouldn't drink greentea, it has caffiene in it and that makes you more anxious. Drink herbal tea.

Try not to put off your wedding arrangements to the last minute, you will be super stressed if you do. Try not to contact your fiance when he is working also. Breathe... In through the nose and out through the mouth. It is called smelling the roses and blowing out the candles. It really does help with anxiety.

You will get through this. We will help you the best that we can. Hang in there, remember this is suppose to be the best times of your life. Let that happen.

I have been on 5mg of lexapro for 10 days and I feel more depressed , should I stick with it or maybe up my dosage? I am taking it for postpartum dep. ocd

Man. What a ride. I'm an everyday guy, father of three great kids and a supportive wife. I'm a typical type A control freak, top performing sales person/manager and never had any physical symptoms of anxiety until about a year ago. I was doing all sorts of travel away from the family as I was managing sales in US and the stress got too much.

Went to Disney with the family a year ago and had what I found out were small panic attacks. Felt like you all do. Months later I decided to jump on Celexa. I'm sure it's an outstanding product but I started it to high at 20mg and only lasted 4 days. Freaked me out and from May through Aug I was freaking out as I didn't want to take any meds.

Finally I decided to visit my first psych and so glad I did. He put me on Lexapro and started me out very slow and low.

2.5-two weeks
5-two weeks
7.5-two weeks
And now finally 10 on for 2 weeks.

Now listen all you readers just like me, it's going to be ok. I'm a stressed out mess who can't stop reading and when I was in the middle of it all, I thought the feelings you have would NEVER go away. Guess what, like my grandmother always said, "and this too shall pass". It will guys. Hang in there. The going slow thing was key. Yeah, had some mild increased anxiety and felt the typical exhausted, spacey, not really here kind of stuff. But it slowly passed. Still have few butterfly's lingering but so much better.

Don't worry. This stuff passes and it's normal to feel ups and downs and you will feel better. I do and glad to write this.

I start Lexapro tonight.
I have been suffering from manic depression and generalized anxiety disorder.
I have lost the love of my life due to this. He does not understand what it is which has had made things worse. We still live together and are still raising our two kids together.
It took me a long time to realize i had a problem and due to my anxiety and my fear of everything i have been afraid to try anything. Now i am to the point that i can not wait anymore.
I have been anxious and shaky and weak and i cant eat. Has anyone experinced this with anxiety and depression and does the lexapro make it go away?
Im scared to start this new medicine in fear that it may not be the one. Did anyone else feel like that?

Great to hear. I am still doing well. It's about 9 weeks. There are times that I am unbelievable and a few times I had some situational anxiety that makes me nervous thinking I'm going backward. I'm able to recover quicker and symptoms are less but usually have trouble sleeping. My current job is great but a possible buy out may happen and after redoing a huge kitchen its nerve racking at times to think I may lose my job or worse go back to work at the place that started my initial anxiety physical symptoms. Today is a much better day and slept last night without a .25 Xanax.

So all in all, still happy with everything. Does anyone else experience situational anxiety at times?

If you didn't have any side effects from the Prozac, why did you stop taking it? Was it working? I stopped a med because I felt better, not realizing it was because of the medication so I went back on it.

How long has the wellbutrin been increased? Sometimes it takes a few weeks. Be patient... I hope that you feel better soon.

oops, Lexapro... Yes, I would give it a little more time. It may take a couple of weeks, but you should start noticing a change...

I hope that you don't lose your insurance too. Things are tough right now, we need all the help we can get.

Welcome to the Depression forum. I am glad you decided to join us. Lexapro works well for many, there are quite a few posts on it, but you may have to go back to find them. I am sure that somebody who takes it with success will post and let you know it is working for them. I take pristiq, which also helps with anxiety. I also take Xanax.

I hope that you feel better soon. Try to relax. Try to stay focused. We have an awesome anxiety forum if you would like to read there too.

Medications can work wonders for us. But not miracles. We have to do some of the work too; with coping skills. Don't give up.

I am glad that this drug is working so well for you keep communicating with your doctor about the progress and keep using your daily skills.

Hi everyone

I started on lexapro four weeks ago for depression and anxiety and am in therapy also. 5mg for the first two weeks and then the theraputic dose of 10mg for the last two weeks. The acute physical anxiety lessened pretty quickly and as far as the depression goes, I am noticing some subtle lifts throughout the day. Still though, I hope to expect more substantial results as time goes on. Here's hoping!
It's great to read positive lexapro reviews though. As you know, when suffering from these conditions the internet can be a minefield, dampening the hopes of those still in the early stages of recovery.

Thanks Karen. This is my first time on antidepressant medication as I suffered a major depressive episode recently. I do feel a bit more stable but certainly not back to my old self just yet. Still, from what I gather, I'm guessing I should give a med four to six weeks at theraputic dose before I notice anything major. I'll hang in there and let you know!
