Hi Theresa,
Just wanted to share my experience which hopefully will give you some comfort. I was diagnosed with depression/anxiety in August. I started taking Viibryd and was on it for 8 weeks. It did help a bit with my appetite but that was about it. I still had terrible anxiety and couldn't sleep. I have since switched to Lexapro. I've been on this for 4 weeks. I keep a daily journal of my moods to be able to report back to my doctors. Currently, my appetite is back and sleeping throughout the night with no help of a sleep aid. I still have a low mood especially in the morning and have anxiety although not as intense. I take ativan to help with that. My doctor says this is normal at this point and to stay with the Lexapro. You should start to feel something around the 4 week point mostly around the physical symptoms appetite, energy, sleep etc. Im told that it may take longer up to 8 weeks to feel a difference in mood. It takes time and patience to find the right med that will work for you. That is the most frustrating of this illness. I'm not sure if the lexapro is right for me but I feel better than what I did at this point on the viibryd. Depression is the most challenging situation I've ever dealt with. I continue to take one day at a time, exercise, eat right and pray. You are definitely not alone, be patient with the meds until you find one that works. From what I've read, your situation seems to be the norm.
