Suffering from clinical depression often feels like the Universe is a big joke and I'm the punch line.
I normally have a rather good sense of humor, but sometimes you get hit with some not so funny blows and as some of you know I took one of these hits a few months back and then went into hiding.
WELL I"M BACK :)

And I am in search of my depression humor again, so thought I would ask " What makes you laugh?"

OMG...

My grandchildren!!! And my dog...

My husband has a way of making me laugh too.

Well, you said what, not who... I hope that this counts.

Also I love sitcoms and stand up comedy!!!

Hello Wendy .....

   Two things came to mind right away!

   One - to make me smile and the other to make me laugh!

To smile:

   I was channel flipping yesterday afternoon and came upon an old program on one of the public broadcast stations. It was a blues concert with Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn - from the 80's!

   I was mezmorized .... enjoyed it thoroughly .... and i know loads of smiles came for most of the concert - remembering how much I used to like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble. Many good Friday nights came back in memory as better times in my life.

To laugh:

   My dog Gizmo - whenever we're going for a drive and looking for another dog ....... I can say "Oh-oh" and he immediately senses that i saw a dog he didn't see. So he howls - like a little wolf - even though he didn't see the dog!

Wendy and all,

Some days things are so dark it's hard to find the small things to laugh about...but my dog mostly is what makes me laugh. He is ridiculous and has a huge underbite, he has a big goofy personality and makes me smile when NOTHING else can. I am angry a lot so, he evens my moods out.

Dogs are amazing, I have two chihuahuas Rat and Rodent and I have to say they can make me smile even when I am in the worst of moods... And they are such funny little animals I find myself laughing at them all the time...

And music is a wonderful way of finding a few moments of joy for sure..

My Comedy Relief is one of the residents in my group home always says funny things and isn't in the state where she realizes it. (Dementia) We were coming home from an event the other night and she asked where we were going and after we told her we were going home she said she wanted to go get breakfast. It's the things like this that get us through the day. The other night she had us laughing so hard we couldn't even look at each other! That's what I love about working with the Mentally and Physically Developed Adults.
