Gina,
In November, I stopped taking zoloft after being on it for 10 years. I have had some serious side effects from going off, even though I tapered my dose. One of the most troublesome side effects has been a reduced and then complete loss of appetite, which though it sounds like a nice thing for my waistline, has been pretty terrible for my mental health because at the moment I am forcing myself to eat and have lost 15 lbs in a month. Perhaps this will be the case for you, though for your sake, I hope your reduction in appetite and weight loss is a bit more gradual.
I also suffer from night sweats and recently, another weird sleep symptom. I am so tired all the time and if I lie down for a few minutes in the afternoon I wake up 10-15 minutes later feeling like my brain is buzzing. This is a new symptom for me and I have been off the Z for almost 3 months. I did have brain zaps for a while after going off completely, but they are gone now. (If anyone reading this has any insight on this, I'd love to hear it!)
I have always had insomnia, but the past several months it has been pretty bad. I am attributing it to Zoloft withdrawal, increased anxiety and depression from being completely off the meds for the first time in 10 years, and some other major life stressors that didn't seem to understand that this wasn't a good time for me!! ;)
I completely understand what you are saying about being healthy and happy again without meds. I really feel the same way and I am hopeful that we can get there.
