An early good evening .......

   My support group meeting was earlier today. I certainly will miss them after September.

   The group is getting smaller. It is metastisized cancer after all. Today, it was just 4 of us plus the RN counselor and the sociologist.

   My disgust with food is getting me very concerned - and there were a few suggestions.

   My weakness is mostly due to such little food intake and from my reduced hydration.

   Note: one of the other members in the group is also not married and lives alone. We have something of a connection. She has a very good sense of humor. And, she wanted me to call her if i ever needed anything. I was in really bad shape this morning - sort of like a walking zomby!!!!! Or is that zombie?

Do take her up on that. If nothing else you can have some good conversation with her. That will make you feel better I am sure...

Rob, I really worry about your intake. Please stay hydrated in this heat. Its so easy to become dehydrated. I think you and this lady could be good for each other.

Heartfeltone, I'm glad you keep posting. Its easy to get overwhelmed with all of the medical stuff. Could the vision thing be related to a medication? One pain killer greatly impacted my vision and my dr said that is a rare reaction. If you are seeing a therapist you should share your concerns. Some therapists can work with your drs to make sure you are getting the best all around care.

I had two dr appointments today. My pain management said he sees about 10% improvement in my mobility but I've also dropped 15 lbs so he's not sure the shots did anything for me. We are going to try injections with a different medication. He did prescribe me something for pain but medicaid won't cover it.

My PvP appointment didn't go well. I have a knot on my wrist. He said its a cyst on my tendons and its restricting movement. I see a surgeon next week about having it removed. We discussed my unmanaged depression. He said he doesn't believe any pill will help. I'm unsure what to do now.

I'm taking Bernie back to the vet. I'm afraid he's blocked again. I can't afford a vet bill right now so if we can't do payments I may have to surrender him. I'd hate to lose him but I cant let him suffer.

AV... I am so sorry. I hope he gets better soon. It is really hard when you can't afford to care for your pet. I have been through that before. And it really stinks. But we do what we can. And I know how much you love Bernie. Hang in there. Would somebody take him if you can't?

thx. having a late night. partner has been doing applications, thus i am giving her some time for a feed and a shower. she skyped late. i just had a late shower and am playing some tunes. hi-de-ho.

My vet said to not worry aboyt the bill. We can do payments. He said he knows how much we love Bernie and doesn't want to see Bernie not get to be with us.

Good morning ..........

   No drive this morning - herbal tea instead. It counts toward hydrating! Gizmo woke me up three times thru the night - but left me alone from about 4am - so slept late.

   I had one "Boost" last night - the 20gram of protein type. I do feel better this morning. Although the "Boost" goes right thru me!!!

   AV ........ some of the best people in this world are vets. Good luck with the meds Bernie!

   Karen ....... keep walking your little girl! Did i say little?

RN Notes:

   Yesterday, the leader of the support group talked to me for awhile after the meeting. Someone had called in recently - who has advanced prostate cancer and depression. The RN asked if I minded if she gave him my e-mail address. He might be able to get something out of both the prostate cancer and depression forums here on HW.

My Notes:

   My daughter is coming in from Austin tomorrow night. I just saw this morning that there is going to be a Mag-Mile (magnificent mile) 5k run on Sunday. It should be very picturesque running down Michigan Avenue right near the lake. I don't think she knows about it. I'll have to e-mail her about it.

Karen: Glad you're doing better. I dislike when the side effects of meds affect us. We're still in the rainy/wet season here. It ends in December.

AV: Hope Bernie is okay. Your vet sounds nice.

Rob: Eat lil bits when you can. I hope you will be okay and feel better. Have a good time with you daughter!

Been sick the last few days. I have a cold, fever and bleeding nose. I'm exhausted. But work calls, plus still not feeling up to par. I'm leaving early the past few days. TGIF!

AV- My pup KB and I will keep Bernie in our thoughts!! I sure hope it turns out okay. A couple of months ago, KB had an intestinal blockage from eating no-nos... I've never, ever seen her so sick or scared and I thought she was going to die. But she turned out okay! So stay positive!!

Hey, chawl -waves-

Accepted a sub job today down the street. Theatre Arts at my old high school. Fun, good kids, light fun stuff. But now I am super-tired. Got a call from another private (Quaker) school to go and get my fingerprints done, per state rules.

Yesterday went and got BF out of hospital around 3 or so. He is home, with a super-dooper antibiotic and first-rate painkillers.

Looking forward to a nice holiday weekend.

Sorry to hear of those who are sick, their pets sick, or are just down and tired. A long weekend shall do us well.

Bernie is home! He had a uti. He's back on meds but he's nowhere near as sick as he was. So happy to have his furry butt home.

That's awesome news, Myself. It sounds like fun. I hope your boyfriend heals quickly.

Hi Everyone!

I hope that everyone has been having a wonderful Friday!

AV: You're so right it's very easy to get overwhelmed with medical stuff and I've been very overwhelmed. I'm not sure if the vision thing can be related to one of my meds, the doctors hasn't said that it can be from one of the meds what they're saying is it can be from some possible nerve damage done when the tumor was removed or the cyst on my brain may need to be removed, the one they told me what not a problem before. I have to see another doctor in the neuroscience department to get some more tests done and to be honest I'm not sure what to think anymore, I'm very confused. I've been sharing my concerns with my therapist and she mainly encourages me to follow the doctors orders, her biggest concern is my leaving the hospital before the doctor wants me to leave sometimes I feel a little ganged up on while still confused about different opinions from different doctors who are supposed to be on the same team so I've been a little uncooperative with my therapist the past few weeks but next week will be a new week I'm going to try to do better. I'm sorry your appointment didn't go well and I'm hoping everything goes well with the cyst in your wrist. I wouldn't be sure what to do either if a doctor told me he doesn't believe any pill will help. I'm hoping that means therapy or some other alternative would be more helpful for you because there's always something to help.

AV: I'm glad that Bernie is okay and doing better and it's great that you have such a caring vet

Rob: I'm glad that you were feeling better this morning and I'm hoping you were able to eat something today. The lady from your group sounds nice you should give her a call and it's nice that the group leader wants to share your e-mail address with another member it shows how warm and caring you are and how much of a help you are to others. Your spirit is so warm and inviting and caring. I hope you enjoy your visit with your daughter.

UA: I hope you get well soon, colds in the summer can be the worst hopefully you will be up to par soon.

Myself: I'm glad you got a sub job today and I'm glad to hear that your bf is home and doing well.

hello. nearly noon saturday. going for a walk before the chemist closes. sun is out. am expecting a pesky visitor. sleep not too bad. demented dreams though. yeah rapid cycling, all revolving into each other. bloody chaotic up there!! know wonder i am screwed up!!!! buttons staying with mum. i miss her..........in a good way. my little fur-ball is with the ol' lady now. see ya later. us.

UA--yes, you and I are definitely on a different time frame (from a previous conversation). I live in Wyoming, which is Mountain Time. I'm thinking about starting a thread for people to say where they're from, or as much as they'd like to divulge--that way I wouldn't have to strain my poor memory. But! I do remember where you're from! :)

Rob--cool about the Mag Mile. I think your daughter might not have been in Austin long enough yet to hear about all the grand ol hippie days... :)

hi jan!!!!!!!!!!!!! got emotional. had a nice chat with mum. buttons in a good place. last game of the season, my boys almost snitched it. went down to the wire and they drew. good effort. pesky visitor eventually visited, didn't stay long, he only knocked as he saw the door open. will see him next week. been going over get well cards and letters from you guys and my partner today, yesterday too. touched my heart. you know i love ya all. be good. love, us.

Good morning ........

   Another "no coffee" day - herbal tea instead for the hydration. Gizmo was a a major pain thru the night getting me up at least three times. It was the lightning! I did get too much sleep during the day too ... making it harder to sleep at night!

   jan1952 ..... found out my daughter is doing her old running group on thursday - so there must be somethiung going on thursday too!

   HT ....... "demented dreams" huh? Last night I had crazy dreams that i was auto racing inside a huge home with my old '69 Alfa - but it was a 3/4 size car ... and it was soooooo slow! Does that qualify as demented?

   HFO ...... I have a true hospital story for you - but it'll be long. It's all about the misconceptions a patient can have while in the hospital - how the mind can play tricks. Hope I can write that to you this week-end.

   AV ........ yay ......... Bernie's home!

   Myself09 ....... is getting fingerprints part of the evaluation process - or is that done only after a decision is made to hire you?

   AubreyBear ......... KB eating no-no's! Boy does that sound like my Gizmo!

   UA ....... take care of yourself. Do you know what the nose bleeding is from?

Rob-Look forward to the kid visiting! Anywhere you work with children, it is the law to have a regular fingerprinting done with each new position. I have been fingerprinted 4-5 times over the years. They told me when I interviewed for the substitute position that they were only choosing a few to get fingerprinted. But, on the up-side they will pay for it. And it's another sub possibility, with a smaller and more outgoing group of kids.

I have a couple of nice apps out, including a museum historian and a post-secondary specialist at Dept of Ed. It's good being close to DC, in a lot of ways besides the traffic.

It's this time of year I get nostalgic for my old kids. Move-in, first day of classes, buying books, etc.

Glad Bernie is home! Cuddle him up.

HFO-have a quiet time, and refocus.

UA, Karen, Jan, Jamie-Enjoy the weekend. Do one thing for yourself you wouldn't do otherwise.

Today we are going to the farmer's market, and then for a walk. BF's leg is improved, but still we can't do anything too strenuous. Maybe Monday. I want to go fly our kite if we get good winds.

Looks like rain here, has been off and on. Very humid. I hope all of autumn isn't rainy... We either don't get enough or we get too much.

Rob, met a samoyed at the Farmer's Market. SHe was pretty big, and decided to roll on my feet as I scratched her deep in her fur.

Got tomatoes and peaches... for gazpacho and peach cobbler. Also plan to freeze some peaches.
