Hi Rango,
Welcome to the depression forum. I am sorry for what you are going through...
You sound like a well rounded 17 year old. Very knowledgeable and mature...
Living with crohns isn't easy for anybody. You have a lot on your plate. It sounds like you have had to do a lot at a young age and you have been though so much...
Do you go to any counseling of any sort? I am thinking this could help you a lot. I think all you would need is some direction with your thoughts. Maybe Cognitive Behavior Therapy aka CBT... It just gives you options of thinking patterns. I don't think medication is needed yet or at this point. I honestly think some therapy would help you. I know it sounds bad, but it really isn't. Our therapists can become like our best friends...
You sound like you are on the right track and I don't think it will take much to get you thinking positive again. If nothing else, get a book on CBT. There is one called "feeling good" by Dr. David Burns. It helped me a lot when I was younger. It is an older book, like me... I think it was written in the 80's.
Take care, keep posting. We are all here to support you.
Living with chronic illness is not the best, but it can be done. When you have a good attitude like you have, it helps a lot...
Hugs, Karen...
