depression or something else

My husband suffers from depression and has been taking welbutrin and abilfy for a few months. We recently thought it was working however he has been back in bed this whole week sleeping again does not want to work or talk to anyone. The other factors is he has been on methadone for about 6 mths now, and recently relasped on illegal drugs.. He states that he has no energy at all when he is not on the drugs but when he is on it he functions as a normal person who works, and eats and sleeps. So my question is could this be another bout of depression or could this recent crash sleeping for weeks be from being on drugs.

Agree with the above. Addiction needs to be addressed first before any depression issues can be addressed. I'm sorry for both of you, it must be very difficult. HUGS - and I suggest going to Alanon meetings, for family members of addicts/alcoholics, there is a big difference between in person and online support. They WILL help you.

There is probably little you can do for him no matter how much you try or how much you want to help, but you can help yourself.

You have to try to keep an objective eye. It is difficult when it is somebody you are close to. Like I said, feel free to email me... We can only discuss so much here.

BBC2015 I bet Alanon has online forums or at the very least you can find another forum, while it might not be affiliated directly with Alanon I am sure you can find support.

This board is really for people that suffer from depression itself, so I don't know what we can do to help you. I'm not trying to be rude or unwelcoming, but you're in a really tough spot and I think you'd benefit greatly from talking to others in your situation.

There ARE online Alanon groups, I used to chair one about 15 years ago. Just do a google search for online alanon groups and you'll find a group. Best wishes to you.
