Hello everyone.I was on Paxil for about 10 months(stopped working) and because i have a brother who was doing good with Cymbalta my doc and i decided to try it. For the first week i went from 40mg of Paxil to 10 and added 30 mg of Cymbalta. This started on Jan.19 and and i did not find it hard to get off of Paxil after only one week.On the second week (i was finished with Paxil) and i increased the Cymbalta from 30 mg to 60 mg (one in the morning and one at night) . I always took the Cymbalta with food and even then, i felt nauseated for a few hours after taking it.When you read the side effects of Cymbalta it states that it can cause nausea and dizziness(among others). In my case the dizziness was so bad that after four days on 60 mg i had to stop it and stay on 30 mg.Even still ,when i take the 30 mg( with breakfast) soon after, the nausea comes back( not as bad ) and the dizziness last almost until bedtime. For a couple of days i was a wreck(pj s,blanket and lazyboy.Did not want to see or talk to anybody,etc,etc...you guys know what i mean. This Monday i am starting week number (4) and still on 30mg(will not even consider 60 mg) .If the dizziness would start to slack off (like the nausea is doing) ,i would feel good because i think the med is doing it s job for the depression but the physical cost is high. Will be seeing my doc on Feb.23 (in 2 weeks)and he did tell me to call if things got too hard but, we all know how hard it is to stop one medication and go on another. I am willing to hack it out until i see him but if this dizziness does not go away after all this time the question will be if this med is the right on for me.After trying 5 different AD in 2 years i know that the medication can take 3 months to get to it s full potential but the side effects should slowly diminish before that. What do you guys think.
