My girlfriend of seven years is leaving me . I'm 36 in a dead end job and I dont have a driver's license. My life was dedicated to her I have no real friends, just two cats tha she is leaving me with.I very sad and never have hurt so much. I dont kow what to do, so I made this thread.

Hi SadMike....

I am sorry for your situation. Why do you not have a driver's license? Just curious. Some people don't like to drive. Some people lose them for one reason or another.

Why did she leave the cats with you? Did you want them?

I am sorry she is leaving you. Did she give you a reason? I sure am asking a lot of questions I guess.

I hope you feel better soon and I hope that posting helps. Take care and take things one day at a time right now. Maybe work on getting a different job. Makes some positive changes for yourself.

I wish you the best. Keep posting, people here care.

Thank you for your reply, I don't really have anybody to talk to.
I have no interest in driving no matter how hard I try to motivate myself.
She left the cats with me becuase they are sisters and one is very attached to me.I love the cats, but they used to be ours.I work hard labour, I enjoy what I do but it doesn't pay steady.
I cannot seem to motivate myself to do something else.
It hurts so much becuase she has valid reasons.
I have never felt so depressed so I reach out on here for some reason.

Take it one day at a time, I'm sorry your gf left but you will get thru this. Love on the kitties and they will love you back unconditionally. Hugs

Hi sadmike. Welcome to the forum. I totally get the lack of motivation bit. And, I WAS the crazy cat lady! At one point I had 14 felines and was well on my way to being a 'collector'. I am presently down to 5 cats of my own and my daughter has 4. It's not the worst thing in the world, but replacing the vacuum cleaner every 2 years is getting a bit ridiculous! Ha Ha!

Now for the more serious stuff...are you seeing a therapist? Have you tried medication for your depression? This malady steals our motivation quicker than an Olympic team on the Luge! It's just a suggestion but you might want to see a doctor. Low testosterone can be a problem for guys too. Get a physical, rule out hormone issues, consider a therapist.

Keep coming. Leaving 'stuff' here helps.

I have never seen a therapist, I have thought about it for years.
You are right I should visit one, but I really dont know how to pick one.

Hi, Mike! I guess I'm the current cat lady, I have 4. Love them to pieces. I know that my cats help in my fight with depression. So, keep that in mind.

Its hard now to really make friends. Everything is done online and that complicates it. You may look at volunteer activities or community sponsored events to help you get out there. My local library always has events going on and it helps to get out.

Think about now as your time. Its time to do what you need for you. Relationships are great but they can cause us to put our own needs in the backseat. Therapy is a good choice. Maybe look into some career training, too. Maybe now is a good time to look into making a career change. Its never too late to make good changes.

I would contact your local mental health office, or look online. If you don't like it, you can always change therapists. Some of them are very different in approach.

I hope you consider it. Check out the first thread, "depression resources". There is a good bit of information there. Books you can read, sites if you need. Mindful.org is a good one...

She is looking at new apartments right now, it is going to be so hard.
I am feeling very alone and she is still living with me until the end of the month.
I am scared of how the month May will feel.

Its hard. I've just gone through that. I got divorced and we lived together until February, I think. I'm trying to focus on making my home mine. Its all about what I like. Take time to focus on you.

It is hard, and it hurts, and it bites. You will need time, and yes, it will be very different and lonely. Please consider getting support in place soon. A visit to your primary care physician might help point you in the right direction. A therapist is a great objective support system that can suggest coping techniques.

Reading your post made me cry. cry

I feel sad to hear that you are going through such problems and hope that everything will turn out okay for you.

This is not the end of the world, and I'm sure that you still have a lot of good things in store for you in your life, so please don't let the problems get you down too much.

Things will get better, you will find another girl who is meant for you, and you will find a better job.

Someone once said, "When one door closes, another door opens; but we so often look so long and regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us."
So think positive and live one day at a time.

Hello again. I found my psychiatrist and therapist through the Mental Health Clinic associated with the local hospital. I told the psychiatrist I needed a therapist that understood chronic pain and recovery from alcoholism. I hit the jackpot! Not only did it help with my depression, I discovered things about myself that had been holding me back from exploring areas of my life that once opened, led me to the most wonderful aspects of my current life! Recent conditions have led me back to treatment, back on meds, but how wonderful to know I do not have to do any of this alone! I have a team! The doctor, therapy, the folks here on HealingWell, these are our team mates! Go Team Go!

Mike,

If you have a doctor that you see, you can ask them for a reference for a therapist.

I think the suggestion is a wonderful idea.

Also, you could consider a depression support group, you can look on line to see if there is one in your area.

All I have been doing lately is working and laying around watching b movies on tv cuddling my cats. It hurts alot and just when I think I getting used to it, suddenly it hurts even more and I feel so helpless. So alone.

Maybe you could go out for a walk??? I did that today and felt better afterwards. I hope this gets easier for you, it takes time to heal...

I feel to down for a walk. But I will get off my butt and take my one cat outside, she loves the outdoors the other doesnt though. It is sunny outside at least.

Hello group.. i was taking 100mg of luvox and 11 days ago switched to 5mg of lexapro.. doctor thought it would be better cause the luvox wasn't good... for the first week on 5mg i felt good only a little tired but iv been taking 10mg the last 4 days.. since i started the 10mg i have been irritable and short tempered.. is this common will this go away... i mean i even feel a little more depressed... i know they say it gets a little worse sometimes first or that the side effects will go away.. anyone else been irritable at first i mean I'm on day 11 right now.. also the last 3 days i have had very minor nosebleeds.. i had them on luvox too and told my doctor.. i dunno if i should give the lexapro 10mg more time or go back to 5mg but i know 10mg is the minimum therapeutic dose... any suggestion please.

I am a new member. Does anyone else take Viibryd 60mg and lomotrigne 80 mg a day as well as lorazepam as needed and have severe morning and night anxiety
