I have been denied twice for disability.

I don't know why? I guess it's time to get an attorney who deals with this.

hi, have you been advised why your claim has been denied? can you appeal, and have fresh eyes take a look? information is power, determine from your own research if you can to ascertain why the claim is denied. knowing the reason can result with a renewed application that meets the criteria.

Best wishes with the disability. Attorney's can help. Make sure that they don't charge if you don't win, and that they don't take too much of the back pay. I hope you get it.

Are you just applying because of depression or do you have other ailments?

Yes, you need a lawyer and ask up front, if you need to pay if the case does not win, will they keep appealing on your behalf and what they get if you win, ask those questions before signing any contract. also ask how many medical disability cases they have won in 2015 and how many over all that they have won...
these are questions you need answers to before getting an attorney. A good attorney will answer these before any paperworks get signed, a bad attorney will just sign you up and leave you hanging...
You might also want to look on the social security website has a .gov ending to find medical conditions that qualify.
Also maybe ask this question in the chronic pain forum on here there is someone there that can give you better advise.
Social Security will try to deny you forever and it's a long battle your in this for, many well wishes.

I was denied twice, even with 9 surgeries, tons of medical reports from doctors and psychiatrists. Since I was also involved in a medical malpractice case and had been sent for an 'employability assessment', I enclosed a copy of that report the third time after hiring a lawyer.

All he had to do was fill out some papers and sign his name. For that, he received $5,000 out of my award. Disgusting! I found out later that I could have gone through Legal Aide for free! I was on Public Assistance and was receiving Food Stamps, so I would have qualified for Legal Aide! I don't know what your situation is, but I suggest you find out if you have that type of service available and if you qualify.

I also don't know how much the assessment cost as it was part of the lawsuit I had going. The man that did the assessment had actually been the primary person on developing the 'standard' for disability and I'm sure his report carried a ton of weight when it came to the final decision!

Usually denials are due to lack of information or supportive reports from doctors and/or clinical support people.

On the online application I filled out, I had to go back 15 years in my work history, phone # and address names of bosses etc..... Then from the day I was claiming my D of Dis I had to go back 10 years in Doctors.

I had to keep on the doctors constantly to get them to mail/fax the papers in.

Very trying. I finally got a lawyer, still had to make calls!

Legally, lawyers can take 6k from your back dated payment.

I have been denied a lot and since I am bipolar and that is my main claim they tell me that "Since I am only sad sometimes" they won't approve me. My great Aunt is gonna get me a good lawyer and he will get it for me, she said he is the best of the best in my area. I love my family. Aunt Jan knows all the best of the best around here. I hope that you get your claim approved soon hun.

I really feel for those of you that have not had your disability claim approved, (including myself)!
They really don't know how debilitating these illness can be ... more so than some physical illnesses and harder to prove.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

I was told that their doctor looked over my records and came to the conclusion that I can do simple tasks. ?

You will need to get an attorney (try legal aide first) to 'prove' that what you 'can' do does not equal "substantial employment". Those are the key words that the administrative law judge looks for. Substantial employment means a 40 hr work week, earning a wage that would make you self sustaining.

If you can't get a legal aide lawyer, a reputable attorney that is experienced in disability claims will have you sign an agreement that he/she will be paid only if you win your 'award'. They are limited to a percentage that has a maximum cap.
