I call my depression the 'monster'.
I did have our bank account ravaged back in late 80's before known depression. Didn't talk for 3 days after it was settled. Found the person too!
In the past fives years, along with the medication, I have found that drawing and/or painting the monster is emotionally healthy for me.
Also I journal alot, monster tends to showup on the pages and in margins.
www.mindful.org is my fav website for mindfulness and tricks to use daily skills for calmness, stay in reality and not catastrophize. Mindfulness and meditation, not the 'om' kind, keep my fequent painic attacks at bay.
